Incredible.

idk but etixx strategy is so freakin shit.. if i remember well that stage in tirrento when stybar was in the breakaway with the leader's jersey while etixx riding like nuts to catch the breakaway with tony martin leadin the peloton .. idk what they declared after that race but for me it was such a stupid move cuz basically they beat themself right there..

also the declarations after the E3, they were so mad, i think bonnen told that the guys from chasing group did not cooperate and things like that.. but who the fuck cooperates vs 4 guys from the same team right there? in that group they were only 2 from trek (cancellara who was toasted, he made that huge comeback + stuyven), 2 from bmc(oss+1), vanmarke from tlj, 1 from astana, 1 from lotto s, 1 from sky (stannard i think) and 4 from etixx, stybar bonnen tepstra and trentin (hope i remember well).. etixx should have done something and not blame the others cuz they had no interest in working on that group..

Disagree with that. Others should have helped. At least the team with 2 guys. Because Etixx were doing something, they were chasing frantically. They had Terpstra and Stybar relaying really hard, Sagan and Kwiatek were just stronger.

The one thing I would have done differently is committed Trentin to the chase and gone for Boonen. Maybe Trentin conventionally has a bit more pop in his sprint, but Boonen was clearly the stronger of the two the way he pulled back the gap in the end, and Trentin didn't even sprint for placings. But some of the other guys should have definitely taken some relays. A couple of turns from each of them and they would have caught the break.

Never thought I'd say this, but I feel sorry for Kuznetsov

The problem with Etixx is that there are too many cooks in the kitchen and tactically the DS gets it wrong tactically most of the time. The team try to do a Sky and ride hard at the front all day, somehow they then constantly miss the vital move of the day and then spend most of their time chasing and because it's Etixx and with plenty of riders, nobody really wants to help and instead just lean on them.

Soluction imo is 1) A better tactial program or 2) get rid of some of their leaders from Terpstra, Stybar and Boonen, it's very much a case of two is good company but three is a crowd as far as Etixx go.

The best teams are those with just one designated leader.

Etixx has a lot of different types of cyclists, Boonen, Gaviria, Terpstra, Stybar, Trentin, so, why they always plays the same strategy?

Today, they had the opportunity to get into the Sagan's group, somebody like Terpstra or Stybar that has more "sprint". But not, they saw other riders and teams being agressive with that kind of attacks, and they just tried to "control" the bunch with 3 or 4 riders at the front to catch the attack....and they failed.

If Lefevere don't learn from E3 and Gent, and changes the strategy for Flandes and Roubaix, the results will be the same.

Etixx has the best mix of riders for the cobbled classics but in the key moments of the races, they fail and they're not as clever like other teams.

I'm going to say/ask: when Sagan/Cancellara/Vanmarcke attacked, and got clear, Stybar, GvA and Rowe were with them. What happened? I saw at the top of the hill that Vanmarcke ran wide, and suddenly, the group had splitted.

GVA was in Vanmarcke's wheel but lost it during the descent (it's not that long but a small road with some sharp corners). It's not a surprise cause Greg is not a good descender/steerer.

Once they got on the flat road Cancellara and Sagan were putting the hammer down and GVA, Stybar and Rowe never got back.

Doesn't matter how many Etixx is, when they do not have good enough legs. Cycling is most about had the best legs. Not about to be many. Cancellara, Sagan, Vanmarcke had better legs yesterday. Unless you are ahead, before favorites attack as Kuznetsov yesterday.

Kuznetsov did really well there, but Sagan was really on it this time. Nice one him, Cancellara has shown some form this weekend but not unbeatable this year.

Very much looking forward to next Sunday...classics have been great.

Cancellara has never been better in Gent-Wevelgem than yesterday ? Not even in 2010 (where he was motorcycle in Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix). It is not a hard enough race to he can win. Cannot see why he should not be unbeatable in Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix.

Arberg: Go back and watch Canc in 2010 or in 2013.

It was in E3 he just obliterated everyone. He never really is bothered abou Gent Weg - which with no wind really is a sprinters classic.

In E3 he was faulty and spends much energy to get back to Vanmarcke`s group, while the others just relax on the wheels of Etixx. He had incredibly still energy left to beat most of them just put on the wheels of Etixx whole day.

He has just left his strongest Gent-Wevelgem ever. He is still big favorit to Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. No one knows who will win. But makes no sense to already write him off before start.

Well of course he's one of the favourites and nobody has written him off at all. Everything that he's done at E3 and GW has been for preparation for both Flanders and Roubaix.

The bigger question thoughs are how well, will riders like GVA, Kristoff and Stannard go all big names that have been sick over the last week or so.

Also will Kwiatkowski be able to make the step up from E3 as well and can Etixx finally get it right.

E3 2013 he slaughtered everyone and then was very good indeed at RvV.

This year I think he was really good early doors at Mallorca, Oman and Stade Bianchi - I thought to myself if he has any more to come this could be 2013 again. But he hasn't quite been as impressive.

Cancellara actually did a Sagan in Gent Weg were his Motor spluttered out.

Choklets
not as strong...seen how he caught back up in the E3?

Right mindset, no quitting and afterwards whining 'bout it,
great shape, real winner that day.
Two days later another good performance.
He's strong and determined.

Again I say it over and over... yes he is strong but not all powerful - motorbike strong like he was 2010/2013.

It was long period of Boonen/Cancellara > > > > everyone else. I am excited about it this years classics no one rider dominance.

GW was good but not great, he was fourth out of four, Cancellara of old would have at least came second in that sprint.

Disagree with this as Cancellara of old would've attempted to had ridden all the other riders off his wheel or attacked and not left it to a sprint. As Cancellara is not quite as strong anymore to do that, over the last few seasons he has actually improved on his sprinting to compensate, even though yesterday was not one of his best sprint days.

Lampaert out for the rest of the classic season, after someone hit his heel with a shopping cart in a supermarket. That's one of the most stupid injuries I've ever seen.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
