Only Omloop, Kuurne, Dwars, E3, Ronde and Gent-Wevelgem count. The others are 'lower' level.

If we're considering the ones you listed above, yes Mattan in GW was the last noteworthy cobblez win

I would count Le Samyn from last year as well. |

Gaviria disappointed me with his sprint at the final. But he showed that can take cobbles pretty decently as well. |

Seems like Gaviria just popped in the sprint and was clearly at his limit. Not sure how much of that was down to the actual race or accumulated fatigue from MSR.

Gaviria will get there, he's learning really fast. It might be a risk, but I'd give him leadership for the classics next year if he keeps this up. He's definitely a Degenkolb/Kristoff type, while they still have Kittel if they want pure speed.
Anyway, I'm really happy the races are happening. A lot of riders who spoke wise words about the attacks in Brussels yesterday, including Coquard, made me feel a bit sorry for laughing at his Zabel
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I don't think he needs the pressure of outright leadership in the classics next year. maybe MSR but not for the other classics but instead give him a free role for the sprint

Yeah free role for the sprint sounds good, Etixx have Stybar, Terpstra, Lampaert and many more: those guys deserve their chances and shouldn't be limited to chasing duties. Plus, we actually need Etixx (and Lotto Soudal) to be aggressive so we get some good racing.

Well, yes not sole leader, but the same way it is now with 2-3 leaders for each race. I really don't see Boonen do another season and Gaviria seems like the perfect replacement in time.

True. Gaviria gives them at least some tactical leverage again when Stybar and Terpstra are riding at the front in reduced groups. Quicksteppers have been missing a real fast man for the finale, thus they also have to make the race hard and thin out the bunch, whilst other teams can rely and hope on their good sprinters. The way Gaviria has been riding though (attacking in Ride London eg) I think he can well replace Boonen because he too likes to ride aggressively, take chances and can win a bunch sprint on top of that
