Great ride by Stuyven. He may have been heavily assisted by his relative lack of reputation. I don't think a bigger named rider would have been allowed to ride off the front like that.

Will be interesting to see how he get's on in the next couple of years now his card is well and truly marked.

Just what I thought, his lack of reputation allowed the others to let him ride off the front and the way he kept it going kind of surprised the stats team as well, so some good improvements have been made for Stuyven.

I think you're not giving enough credit to Stuyven there, he's a junior world champion and junior Paris-Roubaix winner. He already showed something in the Vuelta as well, so his first big win was only a matter of time. Plus, he doesn't need to finish solo, he's got a strong sprint as well.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I think we're giving him plenty of credit Smile

If it had been a rider like Luke Rowe who had pulled he same move he wouldn't have been given half as much of a lead and the chasing pack would have organised themselves much sooner.

No one is denying Styyven's talent or ability. I simply believe that a rider with a bigger rep wouldn't have been allowed the same freedom to ride off the front. That played into Stuyven's hands for sure.

I'm with you that they may have underestimated Stuvyen at first but naming Rowe as an example for a rider with 'bigger reputation' is an awful example

I also wouldn't have used Rowe as an example either.

In case of that, 100% Chance of Stybar winning.

It's raining at Strade Bianche, and the peloton has already split!

Well I hope the racing delivers, gruesome day for the riders. I prefer to see the beauty of tuscany rather than the mud roads and dirt holes but racing could get quite mental.

Jens Debusschere Lotto-Soudal
Pim Ligthart (Ned) Lotto-Soudal
Tom Van Asbroeck LottoNL-Jumbo
Jesse Sergent (NZe) AG2R
Marcin Mrozek (Pol) CCC
Lorenzo Rota (Ita) Bardiani
Riccardo Stacchiotti (Ita) Nippo
Tiziano Dall'Antonia (Ita) Androni

Lead group has 5 minutes. Hoping Debusschere can get far with Ligthart's help.

Dusty Strade Bianche > Muddy Strade Bianche definitely. This should suit Styby though.

Never seen a muddy edition before, I want 2010 Giro-esque conditions!

Well it's all gone, no rain anymore. Now we probably neither have dust nor mud. Such a shame, could be still a great day for cycling given the line-up.

I'm watching cyclinghub right now, that commentary right now

Not so exciting nor beautiful as in recent years, hardly any action as big teams control it easily. Final 20k now.
