Overrated: Porte, sadly Vanmarcke, Moreno, both Martin, Sagan's climbing
Underrated: Rolland, Gerrans, Sergio Henao, Geniez, Contador's TT

It seems that only the Portuguese are nuts about him. Even Jungels is a better GC guy to me. So probably I underrate him and his fellow countrymen overrate him. Is that what you mean?
@Shonak: I think Contadors TT and Rolland in general are overrated. I agree on Gerrans being underrated tho. I agree on everyone else, but not entirely on Dan Martin. He is the best puncheur to me right now. If it wouldn't be for his crashes, he'd be way more successful.

*yes, I'm portuguese*
But even so, I disagree fully on this. While Costa might not be the best rider over three weeks, he's superb over a week. Jungels is not better over 3 weeks, let alone over 1 week... |

About Bob Jungels I disagree. When I say Rui Costa is in the middle of being under and overrated, I mean he is a rider with plenty ups and downs. Take a look at his 2015 season: "helped" Valls winning the Tour of Oman, finished 4th in Paris-Nice with the exact same time of the second place, fell in MSR, finished 7th in Pais Vasco, finished 4th in the Amstel, 28th in LFW and 4th in LBL, finished 25th in Romandie, 3rd in Dauphiné (superb win in stage 6 when everybody thought Nibali had the stage), won the National Championship, quit TdF (can't remember why, illness or something like that), 3rd in Montréal and 9th in World Championships.
P.S. I know it's a cliche, but sorry for my english!

And as Miguel98 (ganda Miguel hehe) said, Costa is not the best rider over three weeks but I still believe that one day (on Tour, Giro or Vuelta) he will make a top10! |

No problem with your english. It's fine to me.
"helped" Valls winning the Tour of Oman
Valls isn't really, what I consider a good rider. Sure, Rui did a good job there, on one mountainous stage.
finished 4th in Paris-Nice with the exact same time of the second place
If I recall it correctly, Costa was anonymous over the race and was "lucky" that Porte and Thomas crashed.
finished 7th in Pais Vasco
Didn't follow that race to much, but looking at the results, he was behind Scarponi. Considering, that Costa is more of a hilly rider, and that the route suited him, he could've finished higher.
finished 4th in the Amstel
I remember Amstel. My favourite race all year long. I always look forward to see Gilbert attacking and winning it. Sadly it wasn't like this, this year. Costa was lucky, that Matthews could "slow Gilbert down". that way it ended in a sprint and Costa isn't the worst sprinter.
28th in FW
Well, that's a "down" I guess....
4th in LBL
That's quite a good result, but again the race was won in a sprint.
finished 25th in Romandie
Again a "down" here...
3rd in Dauphiné (superb win in stage 6 when everybody thought Nibali had the stage)
The dauphine was great, I will admit that.
won the National Championship
Nothing big...
quit TdF (can't remember why, illness or something like that)
I don't remember it either.
3rd in Montréal
Wellens won there, with quite a weak line-up.
9th in World Championships
Sagan won, the pack behind was finishing in a "bunch sprint", so Costa used his sprint again, to finish high.

Where did I say that? He is just purely overrated in my opinion. Doesn't make him a bad rider.

I like Rui Costa a lot but his Grand Tour GC ability is overrated unless he proves otherwise.
Sometimes you gotta settle for what you do best. 1 week stage races, classics and stage hunting at Grand Tours. This is why I hate Kwiatkowski's move to Sky to pursue GT GC results... |

Costa has the same struggle as Richie Porte and possibly Simon Spilak. Good in 1-week stage races. Very good at times. But not able to keep this level over a 3-week GT. Sure all of them can finish in later top10 when having good form but 1 weak day alone can ruin this and they all use to have this one gruppetto day.
Regarding the Porte comparison. Later is the better 1-week stage racer but Costa possibly has the better kick for the classics, which obviously is also due to his better "sprint".
For those kind of riders, it`s a big shame, that magazines, television etc. often take the GT`s as big indicator. So when doing this they appear as hugely overrated riders.
When being more neutral and checking their results over a full season, they often fall under the radar in many races, which could make them underrated. |

Costa like Kwiat need to take a leaf out of Spilak's book and realize that they're not GT riders and just spend their time trying to win 7-10 day stage races.
Costa though is fully capable of winning a LBL.

Michael Schar, holy shit, what a beast. Plus as a domestique he finishes most of his races. Utter beast. Can ride everything.
Benoot is underrated, he is God, the next Cancellera of classics and cycling, superior being to anyone else <3
OVERRATED, every single one of Cio's Germans. Holy shit. Especially Herklotz. But fair point, it's only he who overrates them, but stilll..
