Round 1
Here we go then. It's Monday morning and our intrepid (and stupid) traveller has just woken up somewhere extremely strange. What's more confusing is that he's either still drunk or this place uses weird squiggles as a language so he can't possibly find out where he is. Can you help him?
You have about 48 hours to send in an answer but, as always, the quicker the better.
--------------
I thought that this would be a good one to start with as there are at least two clues which are really helpful so I expect you all to be in the right general area. But it's definitely not easy. One more thing, I know I told you to send in a zoomed in screenshot but that's only really for urban images if you want to get the 250 bonus points. Make sure I can see where you are. Good luck and have fun!

First 5 answers are in. Thanks to you guys for being so quick.
Two people are tied for the win at the moment while one has already staked a claim for the furthest distance away award.

Of course you can. Anyone can take part. But only 19 can score points...

I have spent way more time on this than I should have, but the result is always well worth it if you do find it

Thank you to everyone. This has gone better than I expected so far.
We have 18 submissions, and I haven't had to send any replies asking for better screenshots, so you all got the right idea. I will tell you to try not to use satellite images though in the future as it's a bit harder for me.
I'm still waiting for one person so results won't come until he sends his submission. Otherwise, it will be tomorrow.

Round 1 Results
First of all, let's have a look at everyone's answers. Unsurprisingly, given the massive clues, 18 of the 19 entries were airports, with 17 of them in the Arab world. Some people picked up on the red flags on the left, which were just blurry enough to not give it away totally. Here is what everyone went with:
trekbmc | Algiers Airport, Algeria | Froomedog99 | Marrakech Airport, Morocco | Marcovdw | Dubai Airport, UAE | The Rider | Tunis Airport, Tunisia | Bjartne | Tunis Airport, Tunisia | PeterRyder | Chongqing Airport, China | jandal7 | Carrenleufu, Argentina/Chile border | lakebeach | Enfidha Hammamet Airport, Tunisia | Kiserlovski01 | Abu Dhabi Airport, UAE | jihardy | Riyadh Airport, Saudi Arabia | Miguel98 | Muharraq Airport, Bahrain | Croatia14 | Riyadh Airport, Saudi Arabia | DiCyc | Dubai Airport, UAE | Matt17br | Abu Dhabi Airport, UAE | jseadog | Enfidha Hammamet Airport, Tunisia | Selwink | Doha Airport, Qatar | emre99 | Riyadh Airport, Saudi Arabia | Luxemburger | Doha Airport, Qatar | AbhishekLFC | Abu Dhabi Airport, UAE |
Riyadh and Abu Dhabi were the most popular answers and, as expected, we have a lot of ties. Jandal was the only person who didn't go for an airport, seemingly thinking it was a border post in South America. But who was closest?
The answer was, of course, the world famous Aéroport International d'Enfidha - Hammamet on the east coast of Tunisia, in between Tunis and Sousse.
So yes, that means we have two correct answers already, claiming 250 points to put them well on the way to winning the Season 1 crown. lakebeach was the first to get it bang on, followed by jseadog1. Both The Rider and Bjartne were in the right country and were under 100km away. A very good result for all four. trekbmc and Froomedog99 were the only others in North Africa and the only others within 3500km. jandal takes a stunning, huge early lead in the wooden spoon contest, being a staggering 12000km+ away from the answer.
Here is what that means after round 1 of 5 with the updated table:
# | | Rounds | Wins | Kms | Points | 1= | jseadog1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 250 | 1= | lakebeach | 1 | 1 | 0 | 250 | 3= | Bjartne | 1 | 0 | 88 | 60 | 3= | The Rider | 1 | 0 | 88 | 60 | 5 | trekbmc | 1 | 0 | 650 | 25 | 6 | Froomedog99 | 1 | 0 | 1773 | 20 | 7= | Croatia14 | 1 | 0 | 3663 | 15 | 7= | emre99 | 1 | 0 | 3663 | 15 | 7= | jihardy | 1 | 0 | 3663 | 15 | 10 | Miguel98 | 1 | 0 | 3946 | 10 | 11= | Luxemburger | 1 | 0 | 4084 | 9 | 11= | Selwink | 1 | 0 | 4084 | 9 | 13= | AbhishekLFC | 1 | 0 | 4398 | 7 | 13= | Kiserlovski01 | 1 | 0 | 4398 | 7 | 13= | Matt17br | 1 | 0 | 4398 | 7 | 16= | DiCyc | 1 | 0 | 4421 | 4 | 16= | Marcovdw | 1 | 0 | 4421 | 4 | 18 | PeterRyder | 1 | 0 | 8621 | 2 | 19 | jandal7 | 1 | 0 | 12122 | 1 |
Round 2 will begin later on.

Round 2
Brewer managed to get himself on to a plane at the airport but once again got so drunk on the flight that he passed out. And would you believe it, when he came around, he once again had no idea where he was. All he knows is the sun is shining and there's a nice sea breeze but he needs serious help. Where is he?
As before, anyone can enter, regardless of if you took part in the first one. I recommend doing 2 screenshots for this one. One more zoomed out so I can see what part of the world you're in, the other much closer, as this one is a lot harder. This should really shake the standings up after a relatively easy start. I do not expect any ties here!
You have until about 17:00 GMT on Saturday if you need that long.

Got a lot worse feeling now then what I had last time. If I hit the correct region, I believe I can get a top 10, but we'll see, I may have been fooled by the picture. |
