as I'm rooting for Van der Poel more than van Aert, I'm fine with this, he is doing fantastic job over last few weekends and I'm looking forward if he is able to deliver the world champion title in same style next weekend
Thank you Andy for everything!

It's now the same with Van der Poel as it was with Van Aert the 1st half of the season. Domination.

I wouldn't underestimate Pauwels or Meeusen, they also have a proper chance imo

Of course the World Championships will be totally different. Today was a very tough course (I actually expected this course to be more suited for Van Aert), while Heusden-Zolder is a very fast-paced race. Expect van der Haar, Pauwels and Meeusen to be in the mix, too.

Van Aert doesn't stand a chance against Van der Poel in Zolder.

seems that van Aert is a class better than everybody and van der Poel another class higher than hime.

Van Aert looks exhausted to me, while Mathieu has had a shorter season, building up to next weekend. It will be really tough to beat him, but we've seen stranger things on a cyclocross world championship.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Well, it's not his kind of track and he's not in top shape either, but I wouldn't entirely rule it out.

I'd say Mathieu has about 75% chance of winning, Van Aert 15%, Pauwels and Van der Haar 4% each, that leaves 1% for Nys and let's say ... Sweeck?

Lars Boom? Pfft

Van Aert also was better in 1st half of the season, VDP in second half of the season last year. This year of course you can't really make comparisons due to VDP injury, but maybe they just behave differently with their peaks. If VDP could repeat his WC triumph... that'd be ubersweet.

Looking forward to the weekend. I dont have much time to follow the crosses lately, but cant miss this one. Smile

I think Mathieu will win, but i bet there will be some surprises in top5, even some non- Benelux riders maybe. Pfft
I'll be back

which type of rider do you think VdP could become on road? Rider for hilly classics or cobble specialist like Boom and Stybar are more likely? and do you think he is going to make the move to go full-road in the future?
Thank you Andy for everything!

Dunno, it appears his potential is (almost) limitless. Given his heritage, he should become a GT rider and get the Tour win for his grandpa. From his build, he looks much like he is destined to be a climber, super skinny and apparently never any weight problems.. his credentials seem to make him a young Valverde tho. He probably will lack quality in high mountains, but he has proven to be superb on hilly terrain (Junior World Champion in Firenze, CX events..) but mostly he has really impressed with super fast sprint in the pro peloton.
With CX background and his unique top notch bike handling skills, flanders classics are an option but I think he's probably too lightweight for those races, at least for Roubaix, maybe Ronde is an option one day?

I hope he stays in CX for at least a couple of more years though, 23-25 should be a good age to turn roadie then.

And the first World Champ is Jens Dekker (Erik Dekker's nephew) from the Netherlands. Pretty international top 10, though it usually is in the Juniors category.

Ollfardh
Deserved win for Dekker, I think Holland will get a lot of medails this year.

VDP can go a lot of ways on the road, but I see him get most likely a career like Jalabert or Bettini.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

VDP is also really aggressive, so even if he doesnt end up bring the best, odds are he still gets his fair share of wins

Women's cross was really good, might be the best we get all weekend.
