Fight for place 3

Welcome to the finals of High Risk. Today, the last four contestants will battle out who gets on the top spot of the podium and who falls off the podium. First, we have the fight for place 3. The contestants are:

jaxika - Originally part of group D. He didn't have too many problems winning the group and progressing automatically to the Quarter Finals, where he took out Selwink. In the Semi-Finals, he faced jihardy and lost in two sets. But he now has his eyes on the third spot.

Waghlon - Quite a character. So intimidating he forced the only forfeit this season. He forced another competitor into submitting his tactics at the very latest. You can't prepare to face Waghlon, it's just something that you sometimes have to do, but you'll never get used to it. Vali took him out in the Semi-Finals, showing that it took the defending champion to stop him.

And we're ready for the match...

jaxikavsWaghlon
412

The first set is for Waghlon. He throws 12 points on the table and blows jaxika out of the water. A good start for Waghlon, but jaxika hasn't wasted too many points, so he has that advantage.

jaxikavsWaghlon
128

Set 2 is for jaxika. He, too, goes for a 12-pointer. Waghlon's 8 is not enough to stop him. And so all depends on set 3.

jaxikavsWaghlon
40

And that belongs to jaxika! He is the only one with points left. Waghlon is out and fails to get on the podium. Jaxika triumphs over Waghlon, who has not fought with the same gusto as before, maybe still a result from his loss at Vali's hands. Jaxika gets the bronze medal and can watch the real final with us!

Final

The match that really matters. Who wins this Extreme Level Edition of High Risk? Who crowns himself World Champion? The contestants are:

Vali - defending champion. Ice cold killer. Vali hasn't lost a match since the third match of the group stage... of last season. Winning now would mean a second consecutive title as well as winning 10 matches in a row, an absolute world record. His poker face is infamous. But can he handle the pressure that this match brings?

jihardy - The real underdog, but he has a fighting chance. Jihardy was part of Group A and finished 2nd in that group. In the Qualifying Round, he took on Marcovdw and survived. He fought his way to the finale and now faces Vali. Can he conquer and do what no man has done before in a very long time? Let's find out.

The two players enter the arena. We're ready...

Valivsjihardy
39

An upset in set 1 as jihardy takes the lead! The crowd didn't expect this, but it's happened. Jihardy wins with 9 over 3. Only one more set and he wins the title!

Valivsjihardy
139

Another strong set by jihardy, but his 9 is not enough to stop Vali, who is unstoppable in this set. 13 points, no question about it, he takes it. It's now 1 - 1 and the last set decides everything!

Valivsjihardy
42

A low numbers-set, but Vali's 4 points are enough to finish off jihardy after a very exciting duel! Amazing!

There we have it. It's unbelievable but true. Vali is the true champion of High Risk! 10 wins in a row, 2 time winner of this trophy. Jihardy put up a good fight, but against this Vali, losing is the only option, no matter what you do.

Thanks for being with us today. We hope you're satisfied with the winner. He came, saw and conquered. The killer did it again.

See you later!

Thanks for the congratulations guys. Smile

Well I don't really know what to say, as winning fricking 10 matches in a row in a game like this is absolutely ridiculous and ludicrous. To be honest I can't really believe this is possible in a fair and square way, so Ian do you feel guilty of something? Pfft

Depending on your answer I have to thank you more or a bit less for organizing this awesome game in a perfect way again. Wink

Congratulations- if you win the next series(please?) I honestly think you should consider a career in all this. Or win a trophy. Your call.

Couldn't even cheat if I wanted to, because everyone's numbers are always made public so you can check Smile it's just an amazing string of luck you had. Quite funny to have the same winner twice in a game like this, though.

High Risk: Butler's Premier League

Welcome to High Risk.

High Risk is a mini-game which is not time-consuming at all. The game is a combination of tactics and knowing your enemy. Luck could also come into play, but you could argue what is luck and what are tactics.

Game Rules

High Risk Season 3 (or Butler's Premier League) will see the game run as a league championship, instead of a knock-out. All players will be put in the league sheet and play matches, one (or two, depending on the number of players) against each adversary. You gain points from these matches. Every match runs over three sets (unless the victor claims the two first sets, then the third does not count).
You could also draw a set. If this happens, the other sets will be won cross over. Drawing one set means a 1-1 result. This results in a draw and each player gets 1 point.

Win in two sets (a 2-0 victory) : 3 points.
Win in three sets (a 2-1 victory) : 2 points.
Draw a game (1-1) : 1 point each.

If your opponent forfeits or does not send in his tactics before the deadline, this counts as a 2-0 victory.

Match Rules

A match is quite simple. Every player gets 20 points. He has to distribute those points over three sets. An example can be:

Set 1: 8 points
Set 2: 2 points.
Set 3: 10 points.

His opponent might have picked this:

Set 1: 14 points.
Set 2: 6 points.
Set 3: 0 points.

This match would result in the following match:

Player 2 wins the first set with 14 over 8.
Player 2 wins the second set with 6 over 2.
Player 2 wins the match with 2-0.

Player 1 played out his points quite evenly, with a great emphasis on the last set, which could be decisive.
Player 2 took a high risk and put most of his points on set 1, which he practically had. Set 2 was more of a risk, but player 1 was aiming to take set 3 for sure. Player 1 was right that he would take set 3, but he set too few points in the second set so he never got around to set 3. He lost the game by playing it carefully.

There are many different variations and putting all your points on set 1 does not automatically make you a winner. Example of another match:

Set 1: 5 points.
Set 2: 10 points.
Set 3: 5 points.

Player 2 goes aggressive again:

Set 1: 15 points.
Set 2: 4 points.
Set 3: 1 point.

Player 2 obviously wins the first set.
Player 1 wins set 2.
Player 1 wins set 3 and wins the game with 2-1.

Pre-Match Tactics

You send in your tactics using a format like this:

Match 1:
Set 1: x points.
Set 2: x points.
Set 3: x points.

You are free to send in tactics match by match or send in your tactics for all your group matches in advance together. Your most recent tactics are those that will count. But sent in tactics after the deadline do not count.

Sign-Up

As you can see, this game requires little effort. All you need to do is send in three numbers for each match.
Of course, following the other results (sets are made public every match) can give you insights in the other players' tactics.

Sign up below, simply stating you are in or you want to play. A pm is also allowed.
