Group A
selwink | vs | jandal7 | 5 | | 5 | 6 | | 14 | 9 | | 1 | | | | jihardy | vs | sammyt93 | 1 | | 13 | 9 | | 7 | 10 | | 0 |
We're getting used to them. A draw opens the second match day. Selwink and Jandal7 share points.
Sammy was off to a good start in his match against Jihardy, but the latter took the last two sets convincingly. With one match to play, everything is still possibly in this group.
Group B
luxemburger | vs | waghlon | 0 | | 11 | 0 | | 0 | 0 | | 9 | | | | lakebeach | vs | ryant | 11 | | 0 | 9 | | 13 | 0 | | 7 |
Waghlon is our most intimidating player, for sure. On match day 1, he forced his opponent to fight back only at the very latest. Today, his opponent doesn't even show. Waghlon is making a name as a tough guy. These 3 points put him in a good position to advance to the next round.
In the other match, set 1 and 3 were nillers. 11 - 0 and 0 -7, so the play was in the secod set. Ryant took the win over lakebeach.
Group C
matt17br | vs | abhishekLFC | 2 | | 1 | 11 | | 12 | 7 | | 7 | | | | weirdskyfan64 | vs | roturn | 0 | | 12 | 10 | | 0 | 10 | | 8 |
The group of draws opens with - what a surprise - a draw. Matt and Abhis couldn't live with the other winning and so ended their game on a draw. They both advance one point, again.
In the other match, roturn was put down by weirdskyfan. Roturn, who once had the reputation of being unbeatable, is not playing like we're used of him. Ever since his lost final, he's been off track. Can he come back from this and stay in the game?
Group D
marcovdw | vs | jaxika | 9 | | 9 | 2 | | 1 | 9 | | 10 | | | | FroomeDog99 | vs | Mresuperstar | 2 | | 0 | 12 | | 13 | 6 | | 7 |
So talking draws, what about marcov and jaxika's game? Opening their match with a 9 - 9 set, ending the game with 1 point each. This season is filled with them.
But not for Mr. Unlucky Mresuperstar. Considered the most unlucky man in the competition, he took a big risk by sacrificing his opening set to FroomeDog. Set 2 was close, 12 to 13 in Mre's favor. Last set was decisive, with Mre winning 6 - 7. Could this have been closer? No, it couldn't have been. Exciting match and finally that win for Mre!
Group E
jseadog1 | vs | trekbmc | 0 | | 9 | 10 | | 0 | 10 | | 11 | | | | SSJ2Luigi | vs | Vali | 3 | | 4 | 9 | | 13 | 8 | | 3 |
Trek needed a good game, after losing to Vali. And he did. Winning against jseadog in 3 sets was necessary for him to have an option of the Quarter Finals.
And then there was Luigi against Vali, the defending champion. Vali continues his ruthless campaign to defend his title with style. He slaughtered Luigi in 2 sets and is the best player of the game after 2 matches. Maximum points possible and the only one already certain of the Quarter Finals. The others in group E will battle for the second place and hope not to end up in the Qualifying Round.

Also small mistake in the tables (already fixed in the excel file though) : SSJ2 Luigi has 2 matches lost, not 1 lost and 1 draw. |

Lovely, some more fresh blood.
No but seriously since the last group match of the first edition I've now won 6 matches in a row.
I have no idea how that is even possible though in a game that is so dependant on luck.

Deadline is tonight.
Still plenty have to send in their tactics.
I'm willing to push the deadline like last time, but not too much because I don't want to slow the game down too much. So send in as quick as you can! |

Group A
selwink | vs | sammyt93 | 8 | | 7 | 4 | | 13 | 8 | | 0 | | | | jandal7 | vs | jihardy | 9 | | 4 | 10 | | 13 | 1 | | 3 |
A fight for the first place as Selwink and Sammy meet face to face. Selwink took the first set with the closest margin possible and it was enough to secure the overall win. Group winner and automatic place in the Quarter Finals for Selwink.
Jandal would have a tough time getting that second place so he had to play it offensively, take 3 points. Jihardy gave him the first set on a silver platter but then struck back in set 2. 13 to 10. He took the last set with 3 points and is 2nd in the group.
Group B
luxemburger | vs | ryant | 2 | | 9 | 8 | | 11 | 10 | | 0 | | | | waghlon | vs | lakebeach | 0 | | 2 | 10 | | 10 | 10 | | 8 |
In group B, everything is still quite close. Ryant keeps his chances at winning this group alive by winning against luxemburger in only 2 sets. 3 very welcome points which may well earn him the victory of the group.
So Waghlon needed a win to become first in the group. But lakebeach didn't make it easy on him. Intimidation alone isn't enough and the match ended in a draw. For Waghlon, this is a disaster, as he loses his first place to ryant, who is now automatically qualified for the Quarter Finals. Waghlon has 5 points and can still become best 2nd and qualify automatically, too.
Group C
matt17br | vs | roturn | 0 | | 12 | 10 | | 8 | 10 | | 0 | | | | abhishekLFC | vs | weirdskyfan64 | 0 | | 1 | 11 | | 11 | 9 | | 8 |
A group with everything still at stake. Vice-champion roturn took set 1 easily, maybe a bit too easily. It allowed Matt to kick back with 2 sets of 10, leaving roturn without a chance to defend himself. The vice-champion does not survive the group stage, showing how ruthless this game can be.
Abhishek and Weirdskyfan then went head to head. Set 2 was most important, with an 11 - 11 draw, ending the game on a draw. One point each does not help either of them very much. Abhishek is out of the game, weirdskyfan now shares 4 points with Matt.
Group D
marcovdw | vs | Mresuperstar | 0 | | 7 | 10 | | 5 | 10 | | 8 | | | | jaxika | vs | FroomeDog99 | 10 | | 2 | 7 | | 6 | 3 | | 12 |
Well, Mresuperstar had his moment last match. And now it's over. A good first set, but then lost the final two sets, making him leave the game with only 2 points.
But it can be worse. Jaxika took out FroomeDog without blinking in only 2 sets, leaving FroomeDog with only 1 point out of 3 matches and making jaxika group winner with 6 points.
Group E
jseadog1 | vs | Vali | 10 | | 12 | 10 | | 1 | 0 | | 7 | | | | trekbmc | vs | SSJ2Luigi | 0 | | 7 | 10 | | 7 | 10 | | 6 |
Vali was already sure of winning his group, so he didn't need to play aggressively. Instead of trying to win in 2 sets, he took it easy and played out his hand patiently. It's all business for Vali. jseadog didn't know where he had it and left the game feeling happy he at least won a set against this Vali, a feat nobody else in the group succeeded in.
Trek did well last match and wants to go along those lines and qualify for the Quarter Finals. Sacrificing the first set proved a valuable tactic. He wins in three sets and finishes on 4 points, enough to be 2nd in the group.
Group A | | | | | | | | | Player | MP | MW | ML | MD | SW | SL | SD | Points | selwink | 3 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 5 | 2 | 1 | 6 | jihardy | 3 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 4 | 4 | 0 | 4 | sammyt93 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 4 | 4 | 0 | 3 | jandal7 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 5 | 1 | 1 | | | | | | | | | | Group B | | | | | | | | | Player | MP | MW | ML | MD | SW | SL | SD | Points | ryant | 3 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 5 | 2 | 1 | 6 | waghlon | 3 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 5 | luxemburger | 3 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 2 | 5 | 0 | 2 | lakebeach | 3 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 3 | 5 | 1 | 1 | | | | | | | | | | Group C | | | | | | | | | Player | MP | MW | ML | MD | SW | SL | SD | Points | matt17br | 3 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 4 | weirdskyfan64 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 4 | abhishekLFC | 3 | 0 | 0 | 3 | 2 | 2 | 5 | 3 | roturn | 3 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 4 | 3 | 1 | | | | | | | | | | Group D | | | | | | | | | Player | MP | MW | ML | MD | SW | SL | SD | Points | jaxika | 3 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 5 | 2 | 1 | 6 | marcovdw | 3 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 4 | 3 | 2 | 4 | Mresuperstar | 3 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 4 | 5 | 0 | 2 | FroomeDog99 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 5 | 1 | 1 | | | | | | | | | | Group E | | | | | | | | | Player | MP | MW | ML | MD | SW | SL | SD | Points | Vali | 3 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 6 | 1 | 0 | 8 | trekbmc | 3 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 4 | 4 | 0 | 4 | jseadog1 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 4 | 5 | 0 | 2 | SSJ2Luigi | 3 | 0 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 6 | 0 | 0 |
And so we have our group stage finished. Vali has been the best player in this group stage, losing only 1 set and finishing with 8 points. Group winners Vali, jaxika, ryant and Selwink automatically qualify for the Quarter Finals. Waghlon, too, as best 2nd with 5 points.
Group C had a complete draw between matt and weirdskyfan. Same won sets, won matches, lost sets... Exactly the same numbers. They drew against each other, too. And so an automatic generator was used to decide who wins the group and who is second. An important distinction at this point in the game. Matt "won" the generator and progresses to the Quarter Finals, while weirdskyfan will have to face the Qualifying Round.
trekbmc, weirdskyfan, marcovdw and jihardy will battle for the 2 remaining places in the Quarter Finals.
Congratulations to those progressing. |
