It's nothing new at all.
Last season the shortened team name that was used for your team was 'Lierse'. Looking back at the 2014 thread, you were the only one with two sponsors to keep both sponsors in your suggested shortened name, so I just made the choice myself back then when making the CDB. This season as there are a few teams who haven't offered a shortened name, I have mentioned it, thus giving everyone the choice themselves.
It's purely for practical purposes. There is limited character space in the in-game section which displays the shortened team name by the startlist, and also the practicality that reporters are likely going to refer to each team by as few words as possible.
There's no need to be awkward about it, I'm not asking you to change your actual official name here.
