Ben Swift was so bad last year I completely forgot he finished 2nd in a stage of the 2014 Giro. 
Can't wait for the season to start. Already looking forward to the first completely anonymous performance in Qatar, followed by crippling disappointment in the Toowoomba TTT. I wrote the script.

True, it doesn't! But I don't feel I could have, with my team, have sent one guy to 3 GTs without compromising the squads for some other races.

IIRC it was the 2015 Vuelta, where it was either a breakaway victory or Rodriguez vs. Mollema. Pardilla got two wins for Fiskars in that race while Goos got one. Don't know why I remember that Not as surprising as Bertilsson's big wins though, couldn't believe that when I did the season review.
Thinking about doing a pre-season/planning update soon too, most likely just a brief summary and a rider interview with Bos or Weening.

Scouting Round 1
The ICL released data on all U21 riders that want to go pro in the season of 2017. The problem is that this data is very imprecise and nothing is said about the potential of the riders. Luckily some of the teams have kept some money to invest into scouting these riders.

Read the following guide:
#1 First thing to do is add your Team ID in C2. If you forgot your Team ID you can check it in the table "Teams". There you can also check your Talent Focus budget (Column C, the number in Column D is at the moment not important for you).
#2 Browse the available talents in table "Talents". You will notice that the data is very inaccurate. In the potential box you can't see anything and the stats are split into 3 numbers. 1 stands for stats that are lower than 59, 2 are the stats 59 - 65 and 3 are all stats that are above 65.
#3 You can do three things with the riders: 1. Scout on them; 2. Scout them more accurate then you did before; 3. Sign a rider. In round 1 only step 1 is important, you can sign riders from round 2 onwards.
You can either scout a rider on his potential or on more specific stats. In each case Scouting can be done on 4 different levels, while the first level of the stats is already displayed. Check the table "Prices" for more information and the price list. If you have decided to scout a rider write the level of information you want to get on the potential (column W) or on the stats (column X). It is recommended not to scout a rider on the highest level in round 1, as you can get more information in the next round if you are still interested.
#4 If you are done, go to the table "PM", copy columns A - I and send it to me as a table. You will get the information on the riders soon after.
It is recommended to leave some money in the bank after this round, as riders wages can be paid out of your scouting budget of this season. If not the wage will be paid out of the budget of next season.
Scouting prices are the same as last season.
This season not as many potential 7 talents available. I felt like last season were a little bit too much.
As in this round no riders can be signed, only those teams that actually have a scouting budget higher 0 can send something in. Look in the spoiler for the teams that have to do so. Other teams can sign talents later on as well, but won't know much about the riders.

Also as we're already in the last third of the season I'd also like to start a discussion here on what you would like to see changed/implemented for next season. This also includes a calendar discussion with proposals for new races and for races to be removed.
Last offseason this discussion only started when it was already to late to make major changes, so I think now is the right time to start.
Everything posted here will be considered and noted down. |

Scouting: Round 2

Round 2 works almost the exact same way as Round 1. There are only two new things:
#1 Scout a rider more accurate than you did before
If you want to know more about a rider than you know already, place In colums W and X how you scouted him before (don't forget that or the excel sheet will make you pay more than you have to). Then add in columns Y and Z to what level of scouting you want to get him now in Potential or Stats. You will have to pay the difference between what you already payed for scouting the rider and what you have to pay for the level you are getting the rider on.
#2 Sign a rider
If you already decided to sign a rider, put 1 in column AA, where it says "Sign". A young rider will get a wage of 100. You can pay the full wage out of your scouting budget, but only can use the half of that for wages. Check in table "Teams" how much you can use. Place next to the 1 in column AA, in column AB how much of the riders wage you want to pay out of your scouting budget. It can be anything between 0 and 100. The rest will be payed out of your budget for next season.
If two managers bid on the same talent, there will be a silent auction, I will ask you by PM to make a second bid on the rider's wage. The higher second bid will get the rider. If two or more bids are the same a random generator will decide. Should the wage end up higher than 100, you still can only pay 100 out of the talent budget.
Of course now also teams without a scouting budget can send something in to sign talent. However their disadvantage is not knowing more about them than everyone, which can be a risk.
If you are done, go to table "PM" and send columns A-I to me. |

Still some time until that comes, probably after the Vuelta. The latest start of October.
I'm not sure about the prices yet, in the spoiler are the ones from last year, so maybe someone got any ideas if they are good the way they are or if they'd like to change something
