What would happen if you direct the leader group and the chasing group in opposite directions to the finish line?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

AIOCC votes 8 riders per GT, 7 per other races (safety the main reason apparently) Rejects UCI 2017 reforms.

Chris Froome wins Velo d'Or by the way.
Imo Valverde deserved it the most with winning FW,LBL,Spanish NC,3rd in TDF and San Sebastian,2nd in AGR and Catalunya,7th overall plus a stage in Vuelta,5th in WCRR,4th in Lombardia

Wait, what Froome? Valverde would have been the best choice, a decade of excellence. Sagan would have been a possibility too, b-but Froome?!

The media overrates the TDF.If he had come 2nd in TDF he wouldn't be on the top 3.
Valv won the CQ ranking with 2976 points
Froome was 4th,with 1973 points
Nuff said

Degenkolb and Kristoff had great seasons as well.Sagan as well. But with Valverde having a stellar season he deserved it.Froome pick is really weird

To be honest I can't find any news regarding the Velo d'Or 2015 on the internet... Any source?

Velo d'Or is, unfortunately, not a serious award. The Tour winner has only finished outside the Top3 once since it's creation in 1992 (06 thanks Landis), and outside the Top2 just twice (08, 06). Only 6 times has a none GC rider won it (96 Museeuw, 02 Cipoliini, 05 Boonen, 06 Bettini, 10 Cancellara, 11 Gilbert). The Velo d'Or is pretty much another recognition for the GT winners unless a rider has a really exceptional season. With the way the one-day riders spread around the wins it was only ever going to go to Froome. It's not an award to take too seriously.

So Boonen did not win it in 2012? Wiggins wasn't even the best rider in Le Tour..

Should've gone to Valverde this year, as a reward for his career (he sure as hell won't win the rainbow jersey).

Tour, Dauphine, Romandie, Nice... his 2012 was one of the most dominant GC seasons ever

Olympics ITT as well

Ollfardh
Olympics can't count for anything iirc (olympic rules).

What Boonen did, was unique. Winning le Tour and a few other stage races has been done quite a few times before.

Wiggins is the only cyclist to ever win Nice, Romandie, Dauphine and Tour in the same season, so yeah that's pretty unique Wink
Wiggins is also the only cyclist ever to win an Olympic Gold and Tour in the same year Wink
To set both first time ever records in the same year, you're right it's completely not unique and just something any cyclist can do Wink

Well even if we label both as unique, Boonen won Roubaix with a solo from 50+ km out, while Wiggins couldn't follow his own team mate in le Tour.

Crushed him in the ITT, though. Won with minutes. Won every stage race he participated in, basically.
And also the bigger picture, look at where Wiggins had come from.

I agree though that Boonen had a magnificent 2012, though. It would be a tough choice.
