New Riders for ManGame - Suggestions

@Atlantius : Your lvl 1 version of the riders, overall show that focusing just upgrading one stat, will end up them getting stronger than your maxed version.

With the two last riders at least

Well I can't take all possibilities into account, which is why I wrote like I did. Both the current stats and the maxed are where I think the riders are realistic, then quite possibly they need tweaking to make sure they won't get overpowered with different development choices, but I'm confident that SN can handle assigning current stats based on the max stats as he only asked for the maxed stats anyway Wink

Tiesj Benoot is a mediocre cyclist from Belgium. His results include 36th place at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, a 22nd place at GP Ouest and a 8th place in the LBL u23 race 2013. On top, he got selected for the WC.

What?
You mean a rather big talent from Belgium with a 5th place in Ronde van Vlaanderen?
Or am I missing something?

I think he was being sarcastic, or at least I hope he was. If Benoot isn't one of the best riders added this year, I'd be very disappointed. Not that I have any chance of signing him though Pfft

I thought it was obvious enough so that a smiley would not be necessary but well, I wasn't serious about that.
It was mainly a reply to the countless comments by Alak in the Skype chat.

How should I know that, I'm not in the skype chat.
But appreciate the demeaning comments, guys.

Well some sort of stats is the easiest way to indicate where I think their current level is. Can't really see the problem in that...

Puncher/Climber with a good finishing kick. Doesn't ride many big races (got a contract with Dinamo Cover for 2016 though), but when he does, he usually does well enough. Always gives a good performance on the hilly stage of the Ras, also got a Top 10 against the likes of Grmay and Earle in Taiwan two years back. Current national criterium champ. Great 2014, won both the Ras Mumhan and the Suir Valley three day and multiple county rider prizes at the Ras. One of the top Irish domestic riders (2nd in the A1 rankings).

TT specialist with a real motor. Could also be on X-Factor, he was shot in the leg when he was 15 and only started cycling at 21. Good triathlon rider, got 5th in the Europeans aged 21-24 a few years back. Had a good Ras this year, best Irish rider on the first few stages.

Typical classics rider. Rides a good bit in Belgium & France and with the Irish seniors team. Definitely got some development left in him, surprised An Post haven't signed him.

Probably the biggest talent An Post have at the moment, the big man certainly needs an upgrade. Has proven this season that he's still develloping and could possibly use a move up to PCT level to do that. Despite his heigth he's actually fairly light and best in the hilly races, allthough he's also decent the few times he rides mountains. Also somewhat surprisingly so decent on cobbles that he was Sam Bennett's support at the worlds this year.

How this lads isn't at An Post yet I don't know, for two years now he's been far and away the best domestic Irish rider. Won a shitton of domestic races, like the Ras Mumhan (biggest stage race after the ras), and topped the A1 rankings in 2014 and 2015. Going by the kind of races he wins (which to be fair seem to simply be a good chunk of races he enters) he's a talented stage racer who's also good on the hilly classics. Tends to be utilised as a helper when he rides for team Ireland, which is a shame, but will surely change in a year or two, once he's more matured. Could certainly make it as a pro rider if he gained some experience on the mainland.

I came up with a list of Frenchmen that obviously may be a little overkill, but thought I'd post the stats here so the suggestions can be seen. I don't expect many of these to be added, and some of them may be too strong, but at least they're there so SN and Roman can pick and choose. I've not put much in the way of additional information, as I know Roman has looked at most if not all of these riders before, but I'll happily add more if requested Smile

Latour is a massive talent - was the only guy who could stick with Contador and Quintana in the Route de Sud, finishing 3rd. Then was 7th in the Tour of Austria, 5th in Burgos and 3rd in the Tour de l'Ain (winning the queen stage) - all as a neo-pro. Vachon is a stat upgrade, big results being 2nd on GC in Ain, and 4th in the Tour du Limousin - has a fast finish as evidenced by his classic and stage results, but has developed into a useful climber in his old age - not suspicious, honest. Finally, Bernard started riding as stagiare this season for Trek, having not ridden at the pro level before and took 10th in the USAPCC and 6th in the Tour of Hainan. Son of Jean-Francois Bernard, to give you an idea of where his climbing talent is from.

Turgis is a fairly big puncheur talent - won the Boucles de la Mayenne in his first season as a pro, as well as taking 8th in the Tour of Norway and 3rd in the U23 WC RR. Also won LBL U23 last season. Perichon has consistently been strong in recent seasons, with numerous top 10s in French hilly classics, and this year took 4th in Langkawi and 3rd in the Boucles de la Mayenne. Ledanois is the U23 WC, but is probably weaker than Turgis - just chose the right move - but is a useful enough rider, 4th in Paris-Camembert this year, 14th in the Tour of Luxembourg and 6th in Norway last season, but more of an all rounder than pure puncheur. Combaud and Renault are very similar riders - multiple Top 10s in French races, but unlikely to ever be more than CT leaders or domestiques at higher levels. Jauregui is another very exciting talent, could possibly be better than I have him, but really depends what he develops into in the future - he's good at picking the right break, is a good climber and packs a great punch. Also has excellent bike handling skills, for those that haven't seen his bike change a few WCs back then look it up. Finally, Loubet has had similar results this season to Rossetto last - hence the very similar stats, and an upgrade on what he currently has.

Laporte is very much a classics style sprinter - he could develop into a Sagan type of rider rather than a sprinter eventually, so there would be a case for changing his stats a bit, but he has done pretty well on hilly parcours - 3rd in the GP Wallonie for example - while winning the relatively flat Tour de Vendee. Barbier has over 20 top 10s this season, all in flat stages/classics/GCs, and while no world beater would make a useful enough leadout at the lower levels. Sarreau is probably the biggest talent of this crop (well, except possibly Boudat who could use a year more before being added to see what type of rider he becomes), best result this season 4th in Scheldeprijs but has consistently been up there in 2.1 races. Manzin is slightly weaker, but better over hills - won La Roue Tarangelle this season and took a top 10 in a WT sprint in Poland. Jarrier is another one of the CT level riders who does well in little French races, while Venturini isn't hugely quick - but would make a nice Sonnery type rider, with his best results in the Tour of Austria coming in sprints after some serious climbing.

If there's anyone who people feel I've missed, let me know and I'll look at them - left out Boudat, Gesbert, Maison etc as I felt they could do with more time to be judged before being added.

Bushwackers
Here's just a few riders:

Margh already got most of the Swiss ones I would have added, I would only add Frank Pasche. 2nd in the Swiss U23 RR and 3rd in the TT, he looks like a good prospect. I would say he's a timetrialist who can sprint a little.

Chris Butler is a pure climber. Gregory Daniel is a pretty big talent since he was a junior, and he is mostly a timetrialist.

@jph

If you add Latour with those stats, he won't max out with 81MO, 76HI and 71TT...

He will be 81/77/75 or 81/79/68 - And obviously it is easy to see which version you should pick Smile

The others seem pretty well-rounded though.

Now time to add some Brazilians! A hard thing to do in the MG, as most of the top Brazilians are well into the 30s with a good chunk 35-40. So, some of these are OP, of course. However, with Brazilians represented in all divisions, Nicacio taking two stage wins at the 'best GT!', a Brazilian team amidst plenty of South American teams in the MG it makes sense to add Brazilians which are OP, especially as many have declined. So perhaps it would be a good idea if someone could find a Brazilian with half a reason to give a stat max of 80 in either mountain or hill to? Why not!

Nothing to match the finishes of Chiarello, however, as I said I think there is a need for more Brazilians of decent quality, Marques could get there starting at level 3. Marques has hovered around the top 10/20 in Brazilian GCs with multiple placings in KOM comps: liking the more mountainous terrain then.

So what you're basically saying is: "I manage a team from a country, so I've gone away and found the names of some cyclists from this country and decided to create their stats so they fit into my team perfectly, filling any roles that are currently lacking in the team, and while you're at it, why not add some really overpowered riders, because I want some of them in my team"

Seems legit.
