Absolutely brilliant result by Tzortzakis here. This makes it all the more bitter that Spilak fucked up Liechtenstein that bad. If he would have just made the podium, the battle for the win would have been SO intense right now.

Bewley winning is no surprise of course - And congrats Roman for another Bewbastard victory Smile

Keeping up that well with Becherovka was absolutely key for our chances to take 2nd overall obviously!

Wait, what? Bewley? This game is so bugged..

Lame result for Oz, but at least Ford showed off our colors!

Great effort with three guys in the top 20! Finally a good PT race for us again, which feels very nice. Being outscored by Good Energy was expected, but we took some points back on Metinvest, which could prove crucial for a top 5 in the end. Certainly interesting!

Considering Bewley, everything has been said during the season. But big congratulations to Roman on winning on home soil, must be great, eventhough it was kind of expected.

Swift failing here makes it a bit more interesting now. Becherovka with the expected big scoring here but also SotD with a nice result as Tzortzakis somehow performed a lot better than many.

Relegation wise not the best race for Volkswagen.

Not the worst for Volkswagen either. Obviously Movistar is in a good position right now if Tejay performs according to his season so far, but Volkswagen was the best of the 3 battling for that final survival spot.

Too bad that Venchi doesn't have a little less, so they could go down.

Well, that wasn't one for Kennaugh's highlight reel. Or the team's for that matter.

No words for Bewley...

Another Bewley display...

Good team effort today, clawing back points on Avin. Solid 3rd for Guarnieri, and good following up by Rowe. Happy times. Plus showing face in the break all day. Nice.

Thanks for the report!

Well our best rider dropped again. I guess we wouldn't have had a chance at winning anyway, Bewley was just too good.

A decent performance there by both Dan and Fab - they were right there, in particular Danny H who was oh so close to a podium. He does seem to have the right stats combo to challenge in this tricky sort of races.

Of course challenging Bewley looks impossible - the guy is a double edged freak who frankly is now looking like the non stage racer of the MG. Ponzi has had a great season too but Bewley takes the biscuit.

Well, outsprinting Bewley not happening, but Ignatiev still going strong with 6th place, along many strong sprinters. That is fine, as is top 40 for Nolf, but Guardini 100th as our third best guy is terrible and non-existing depth is something that will probably cost us a PT top5 in the end. That should be better next year, but Guardini is maybe on the way to the new home, not happy with his performances this year.

Congrats to Becherovka for yet another Bewley win, nice to see them winning in teams home turf. But Bewley is no longer funny, this guy is virtually unbeatable and his scoring potential is almost twice as high compared to the best stage racers bar Pluchkin and Spilak this year, because he wins so many races worth just 2 race days. Smile

Thanks for the nice report matt!
I'll be back

Yeah those cobble/hill or cobble/sprint guys should probably be limited further in terms of racedays as 46 racedays for Bewley is worth MUCH more for Bewley than it is for Madrazo, Schleck or whoever.

When Bewley can ride every single race that suits him - Including a GT then we get this.

But then again, after Boonen got worse there are no similar riders. Kristoff and Stallaert, Rowe, Boeckmans could be if trained a lot, but other than that there are none. And even those riders would take several seasons to make into a new Bewley - While Bewley can just keep getting better and better as he has another two seasons of training-eligebility.

Of course this can be dealt with from wages, but as he is currently 950K and the most expensive rider (Pluchkin) costs 1.550K, I don't see it being very realistic that Bewley could be even more expensive.

I can't see you lose that top 5 position btw Avin. You should have a decent Tasmania, and I guess you are still ~200 points ahead of AKER and Good Energy. You being caught by both seems improbable I think. Tinkoff is too far down, so even if Trofimov wins both remaining races they won't catch you.

Lets hope so, as i am not doing any own calculations, i am only left with usual ranking posts and it is always a surprise. Grin

Good that we also have HC beijing left, where Grosu can hopefully earn some points too.

Regarding Bewley, you are right that he has no competition now, after decline of Boonen, so we have to deal with it for now. But seeing him in every well suited race in the calendar is painful Smile

I haven't done one this time either, but it shouldn't be too difficult to calculate by head Smile

This is how things looked before this race:

44pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/met.pngMetinvest-Dacia6113
55pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/akm.pngAker - MOT5863
66pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/gde.pngGood Energy5819
77pcmdaily.com/images/mg/micro/tcs.pngTinkoff Bank - Tinkoff Insurance5677

The differences:
Metinvest
Aker - MOT -250
Good Energy -44
Tinkoff - 142

You was 6th, while Aker did slightly better overall, so did Good Energy. Tinkoff was nowhere, so they must have lost close to 100 more points.

So my guess is that the differences now would be something like:

Metinvest
Aker - MOT -200
Good Energy - Similar
Tinkoff - 275

So having almost 500 points down to Tinkoff and somewhere around 180-225 to Aker and Good Energy - Is my guess Pfft

Well the wage comparison is off - much better to compare Bewley to A Schleck in terms of wages as Pluichkin was bought off the free agency this year. Fair play really to Roman for investing and developing Bewley. He has been ultra - consistant in general this year. On the cobbles it is hard to see him being beaten at the moment.

It is a bit difficult to see Bewley being beaten I admit - but that said we all thought this of Madrazo/Phinney a couple of seasons back but it hasn't worked out that way in stage racing. There are options for managers to invest to compete and that is the challenge.

The problem I guess is that managers are understandably reluctant to invest heavily in cobbles or sprints. The lump of shyte that is Guerao comes to mind and Frankenstiens monster Van Stayen has not exactly lit it up in the sprints. I do wonder if we need something a bit more streamlined for training in sprints and cobbles (eg. training on COB increases RES at the same time or SPR increases ACC at the same time).

Bewley winning three of the five monuments and lots of classics, he deserves his name in stars.

True. In terms of wages, perhaps. But he is still a mile away from Schleck this season. Why? Because Schleck can't ride every single race that suits him. Bewley can.
