Tour of Britain

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/profiles/hc_brit.jpg

Welcome to the 7th edition of Tour of Britain and welcome to the first big race in September! There are only two month of action left of the season and several teams need to score big points here if they want PT in 2016! Not all the big names are here, but that doesn't mean this years edition won't have any action! Recent winners are : Mikhail Ignatiev (2014), Fransisco Ventoso (2013) and Jonathan Bellis (2012)

The route goes off the bat with a hilly stage and a TT to spice things up followed by hilly stages to figure out the winner of all this. In general we have a lot of action each day and also the sprinters have many opportunities to score some extra points. Last big edition is the addition of high scoring KoM sprints, where the winner of the competition will have to fight for several hundreds of points here.

Forgot i brought Nelson here, hopefully that pays off with a stage win or at least a good handful of points. Otherwise it's probably breakaways as my best option. Perhaps Lloyd can sneak his way to a good GC position, again. Got an opportunity to score some points and we really need points

Wow, 4 of my former riders participating, so a race to follow surely Wink

8 racedays that we should be looking to put to good use. I'd be happy with a top 10 from Ben Nasser and a stage win from Impey. At least a top 10 is a must, Ben Nasser can't go missing again like he's done at times this year.

Unsurprisingly, I'm going for a LLS win.

If Costa can win this and Prio continue doing well in America things could spice up suddenly Cool

Rowe better win every sprint stage as we will be doing nothing in the GC Grin Just hope we are in break after break after break Smile

Important race for many people (every race is at this point, right?).

LLS looks like the man to beat. There is plenty of competition though and guys like Kangert, Ben Nasser, Meyer or Craven should be real naggers.

In theory Costa should do well, but I fear the TT won't have as much impact in the race as I whished it could have. Goal race for us anyway, so I'm going to be biting my nails.

Thanks for the preview sgdanny Wink

Since two of our three direct competitors for promotion are here with relatively similar lineups, it is absolutely crucial that Kelderman&Demare keep up with the points scoring of Ben Nasser&Impey and LLS&Geschke here.

I hope the TT has enough impact to deny McCarthy a good shot at the GC, but also little enough impact to keep Kelderman within Costa/LLS/Craven/Kangert range.
From then on it's all about attack timing to be in the good moves.

Demare would've preferred less competition for the stages likely ending in a sprint (which may include 1 and 4), but I hope Cav and Nelson tire by stage 8 and we at least attempt a train here and there with Bar and Lander who are very well suited to that job with that route as well as Felline and Arndt as backups in the case of a very tough race.

We fill up the squad with Bol and Vogt who hopefully get some minor GC points as well as provide great support for Kelderman. No spot here is "wasted" for a weak rider, so we better show ourselves.

"continue doing well"? So far they're not looking to increase much on their 19pprd over there. *jinxes it*

Considering the length and startlist of the race 19pprd would be ridiculously good outcome Wink

Which is exactly what I pointed out as a mistake in your logic. They go into ToA with 19pprd and probably will come out of it with less.

Continue doing well can mean hitting their average pprd which is absolutely necessary to keep them in any fight for promotion whatsoever.

No mistakes.

For me, "absolutely necessary to stay in the promotion fight" and "suddenly things could spice up" are two pretty different statements.

When ''If Costa can win this'' then it does spice it up.

Most important remaining race for Evonik and we need a massive point gathering from LLS to keep all chances for the promotion quest.

I expect at least a GC podium and one stage win.
And perhaps Simon Geschke can score some points on top. At least I can pretend that I have some hopes for that to happen Pfft

Of course I also look at the other promotion contenders who don't exactly have weak squads here .
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Meyer and Levarlet top 10 would be the dream. If we want an outsider chance of promotion, we need to deliver here. Hopefully it will be a good one.

Going for Kangert here! I'm having several options for breaks on the hillier stages, but hope it will come down to the favourites.

Hoping that Cavendish can grab a stage or two Wink

Was hoping Itami could pick up a stage or two here, but he's not even listed in the favourites Frown

The goal here is a stage win, so hopefully Cornu can take the TT. Ideally he can also hold on during the first hlly stage and use that to maybe take the leader's jersey just for a stage or two. Zingle can hopefully do something with his free role, and Boeckmans is here to try to podium one of the flat stages.

I'm really surprised at the sprinting depth here given how few flat stages there are and how long the race is.

Tough startlist.
Boom somehow making a top time trial peformance and possibly a decent GC?

Groenewegen a stage win would be cool as well.

The Rider
Hold on to the seat of your pants everybody, I think we have a race where Roy might actually score some points!
