Who initiated the transfer anyway? Was it Kittel wanting to leave to earn more at Etixx or Giant trying to get rid of a heavy contract for a rider with a crap season?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Kittel initiated it, said that thanks to Dumoulin suddenly being a GC rider he feels like he wouldn't get a chance for a fully support TdF team

Probably getting every bit of Cav's former wage and more.

So the one rider, I expected to be caught positive for several months now, changes teams. I call a bad 2016 season for him with Orica. |

In other news Björn Thurau is leaving Bora - Argon despite having a contract for another year.
While the team wants to focus on GC`s, Thurau is looking for a team, where he will get more chances as free rider.
I was actually quite surprised that he couldn`t play such role with the team after he showed great skills in his last Europcar season. I expected him to continue like this when joining a PCT team with lots of wildcards. |

Yeah taking stages in both the Tour and Vuelta at the age of 35 (36 in Febuary) in a contract year does ring alarm bells doesn't it, am I reading it correctly and they gave him a 2 year deal? OGE made some clever signings this year but this one is just odd or PCM. At least the Anton/OGE rumours were untrue

He did have broken leg early 2011 so until this year his racing hasn't been the same, so age wise he may have one or two seasons in him more due to that actually, I mean Txuruuka is only 2 years younger and if I had to choose one to actually win a big stage then I would always choose Plaza, he's got smarts about him, he's not a bad signing, bit odd I agree, however additionally he gives what may be cliche but teams do love some older experienced guys around their young talents.

Probably getting every bit of Cav's former wage and more. Maybe but they did have a reduced budget for the next 2 seasons so I guess the new sponsor would be what's covering his wage. Looking at next season with the "big" sprinters it has to give Griepel even more confidence to have another good year, it usually takes a season these days for a sprint train to settle and Griepel's is stable and well drilled, guess Cav has ridden with most of what should make up his train but I'm tipping the Gorilla has another big season

Some good points and OGE do lack the experience in the climbing department, Plaza has been around forever and can finish multiple GT's in a season and with Chaves, 2xYates, Haig and Power they did need experience to help the "kids" out

Doubt it, but if so, that's very strange. To leave a team built around you for much less money...
