Guldhammer stays with Cult-Stölting for another 2 years despite WT-offers.
Really happy about that. A key signing for Cult and Guldhammer will ride on the level that suits him the best, possibly developing further.

That's great news! Good rider who would just get lost in a WT team, also good for the newly merged teams to get the jersey finishing high up in PCT races

That's an insane team MTN has now, is it still possible to apply for a WT spot?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Well there are only 17 WT teams so it's a possibility but all depends on who else comes on as sponsors, guess Cav's personal sponsorship with Specialized is over as MTN have a deal with Cervelo. To me Eisel is a massive get for MTN as obviously he plays the role of lead out for Cav but he's also a strong experienced road captain which can only help the younger riders in GT's

Yeah it is a bit funny but the fall isn't really that big, MTN will get invites to whatever races they want to race so being PCT really isn't a a big deal. I'm assuming Renshaw is coming along because I can't see any reason why Etixx would keep him

It's quite painful that they are announcing 1 rider per day considering that all the riders they are signing are well known....... The suspense is killing me

I hope Cav shows Etixx, that they made a bad deal, letting him leave. C'mon Cav. Get MTN some TdF stage wins.

Ettix probably knows, that it`s not ideal for them as they lose a couple of guaranteed wins.
Then again the opponents are much stronger and he wins less as 4-5 years ago. But he apparently still wants the same wage or an improved contract.
Easy call for Ettix to say no then imo despite the fact of losing a strong rider. |

Cav even wanted to stay with getting a lower wage. He wanted a compromise.

I think Ettix can easily let a few people go with all the talent they signed

Not sure if it has been mentioned but Lawson Craddock to Cannondale, which means that Tom Dumoulin has even less climbers to help him now, especially if he finds himself in a winning GT position again. |

Not sure about this. Letting Kwiatek and their sprint train go, as well as Uran, doesn't seem that well to me. Well, they got Dan Martin, who is probably a bit better than Kwiatek in the Ardennes(if he doesn't crash), but he isn't as good as Uran in the GTs imo. Cav had a bad season, but then they have Gaviria now, who seems promising, but letting his possible lead out train go as well(Renshaw + Eisel) is just moronic. I know that these 2 are very much connected to Cav. They'll follow him, wherever he goes.

Don't you mean somebody else as Eisel rides for Sky, Renshaw is bound to follow Cav but losing Kwiak is the big loss imo as he's far more reliable than Dan Martin, unless of course the Belgians can teach him to stay on his bike.
Etixx couldn't really support Uran in GT's imo as he always lacked men and the team are not really a GT team anyway.
But again they should be super strong for the classics, but I think letting Cav go is quite bad for them unless of course they plan on getting Kittel, as Gaviria is still a developing sprinter. |
