It will be interesting to see how much of a factor the cobbles will actually be, from the pictures I've seen and what I've read they really aren't the type that will cause mass havoc unless of course it rains. One rider who's got to be counted as a chance in the men's race is Micheal Matthews, he's been racing over there in both Alberta in the Canadian one days races and has shown he is in form, he'll basically have the whole Aus team working for him as Gerrans hasn't had a chance this year to get into form (I hope Gerrans wins just to watch every cycling forum go into a hate filled meltdown) and has proven that he can compete against the best. I think Dagenkolb's whole Vuelta performance was about getting himself ready for this, then of course the usual suspects on a course like this which have already been mentioned.
Looking forward to the Men's TT, Martin, Dumoulin and Dennis should be the ones to fight it out and I can't really seperate them.
The Elite women's race looks to be the most exciting race of the event, so many chances so should be a real cracker

The funny thing about the WC is usually: those predictions and top favorites before the race almost never come true.
So I'm gonna say Gerrans |

I fixed it for you. Now you've got a real outsider pick.

Seems perfect for Kristoff but I would love a Sagan win.
For those who know the history better then me, has there ever been a super difficult WC RR course?
Hard to find profiles for past races. |

I think Sallanches in 1980 is regarded as the hardest ever, You might find the stats of the race if you search it up. |

My prediction: Poland will pull the peloton from start 'till end with Kwiatkowski grabbing the win with a late attack. |

I remember 1996 Duitama, Colombia being a very hard course. |

Duitama 1994. The hill that had to be done itself was not that hard but it was at really high altitude.

My memory seems to recall something about 1954 Solingen being very tough, as probably were a lot of the earlier pro-champs

1927, Nürburgring was tough and there were only 18 finishes, but all races were tough then.

WC doesnt really get me pumped. I dont care one bit about the women's racing and the RR is usual rather boring, with 2013 being the exception of the last editions I can remember. I would much rather watch the P-R and RVV alltho Im not a classics-guy.
Anyways, no clue for the ITT. I guess Rohan Dennis would be a good outsider pick? His odds is relatively high.
I call Movistar for the TTT. Super underrated team in this discipline and everyone seemed surprised in the Tour when there really wasnt a reason since they had a great team.. and have a super team for this event.
All the RVV have a chance including Valverde and Matthews I guess, probably a few others, but it will come down to Stybar, GVA, Kristoff, Degenstache etc. I believe without knowing too much about the route. I would have wanted it to more hilly, I fear it will come down to the last 4 kilometers since the rest are basically flat. |

Martin will probably make a long range attack I guess like he did in 2013 or 2014 (can't remember which), I'm predicting he'll make it this year.

Long range attack? In the ITT as well?
