Good. I hope he gets proper support at the Giro. It may be vital for him to assert dominance early on (Catalunya, Pais Vasco) in order to keep the pretenders (König, Roche, Poels) at bay. Hopefully we'll see soon the first basque GT winner since Big Mig.

Topsport Vlaanderen announces their neopro's for next year:
Aimé DE GENDT
Maxime FARAZIJN
Ruben POLS
Dries VAN GESTEL
Kenneth VAN ROOY
Anyone following the youth cycling know if the first two are related to Thomas and Peter?
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I can confirm that Farazijn is Farazijn's son. Don't know about De Gendt's connection to De Gendt. ^^
Exciting transfers for Topsport Vlaanderen - Baloise. Some of them would fit perfectly in a WT team, but apparently Topsport Vlaanderen's recent successes are convincing enough to attract such talents.
Aimé De Gendt had some successes in minor stage races and time trials. He's supposed to be a GC rider.
Maxime Farazijn won a stage in Le Triptyque des Monts et Châteaux and finished 3rd in the GC. He'll ride the U23 road race in Richmond.
Ruben Pols is the Belgian TT champion U23. He'll ride the U23 TT in Richmond.
Dries Van Gestel is currently a stagiair at Lotto-Soudal. He's a promising climber which he's shown in the Tour de l'Avenir by finishing 2nd on a mountain stage.
Kenneth Van Rooy is a stagiair at Lotto-Soudal as well. He's won the Tour de Liège and finished 7th in the Prudential RideLondon & Surrey Classic, his first race for Lotto-Soudal. I think he's a punchy sprinter. |

Thanks for that, I really should follow the youth categories better
Anyway, I think those signings show the Topsport Vlaanderen project is working perfectly. You get great results to show your riders, win the CT classification while you're at it, and then you let them go to the bigger teams. If young riders see that, they will be even more motivated to join the team, because they know they will get chances there.

It wasn't a Mountain stage that he came 2nd on - more like a hill stage. He was part of the day long breakaway, which didn't get caught.

Astana renew with Tiralongo, Rosa and Cataldo for 2 more years. Guessing Astana are hanging onto the Italian clique
Also the Pirazzi Lampre rumour came to nothing with him extending with Bardiani
Not only the Italian clique, but the Aru-clique. Where ever he goes, those 3 goes. Possibly the last try in 2016 for the Giro. Biggest rival? Mikel Landa, former teammate.
Stay tuned!
It will be curious to see who goes to the Giro for Astana next season, Nibali has said he wants to and I think Aru has said he wants to, you would think after what's played out this season that Aru gets to call the shots. Also I'd need to see the field before saying that Landa is Aru's biggest threat in next years Giro, actually no I don't! Landa won't be winning next years Giro
I heard different. Aru wants the Tour, Nibali the Giro.
If it's that, there's no problem.
And Landa is now Team Sky, so he'll probably have to lead the team at the Vuelta. Though the Giro could be possible as well.
Landa is 100% all in for the Giro, that was the most important for him when signing (Taxus from the CN-forum often reports detailed about him). He said Landa prefers the colder Giro better than the 2 other GT's, especially the Vuelta, and he says he feels much better in the start of the season. I think Sky will send Roche, Kiri, Sioutsou and Henao, maybe Boswell, for support, but Landa is the undisputed captain for Sky.
The question is whether he will be superdomestiqing for Froome in the TdF or riding Vuelta. |

Really good signing for the team imo. They don`t have much for the classics and Breschel can have full leadership again.

The Breschel signing is worth a chance for both rider and team, as Roturn said Cannondale don't have much going for the classics and Breschel was never going to get his chance at Saxo with Sagan being deservedly outright leader. Breschel is handy enough to show up in a few races and also brings a wealth of expericence when it comes to GT's

Good. Now finally David Walsh will shut up about Astana's Giro performance being unbelievable.
I'm sure he'll call Landa a shining example of clean cycling or something. |

I would also think Konig would be a good bet to be in the Giro squad and also gives the team a stable plan B if things go wrong such as this year Giro with Porte, I'd say Viviani would be there as they won't take a sprinter to the Tour.
It's funny you mention Taxus from the CN forum, he does seem to know his stuff when it comes to Spanish cycling but damn his posts can take a while to unravel and make sense, not just because his English language skills aren't to great (not picking on him about that, it's not his first language) but his nonsensical reasons why he thinks the peloton is clean, they really don't make sense.

Breschel is a nice addition to Garmin. he showed spirts of good form this year, and we didn't really have a classics squad anyway.
On the other hand, is Valgren the only Dane left at Tinkoff?
