Dumoulin has luck just like Mollema, Gesink, Ten Dam. |

Well played by Astana, but looking at Dumoulin today it was inevitable that Aru would win.
Maybe trying to gap Aru after following all his attacks on stage 18 and then the effort he put in to gain a few seconds yesterday have pushed him over the edge? Doesn't help that when he was in touching distance of closing the gap he had nobody else who could really pull turns, Nieve is good but doesn't look all that strong

I don't think it's bad luck. Whatever GC position Dumoulin will end up with, he's done the absolute best he could in these 3 weeks. For me he's the revelation and the primary figure of this Vuelta. |

Dropped on penultimate climb, nearly got back on descent but Zeits and Sanchez dropped back from the break and pulled the gap to nearly 2 mins now. |

That's a great stat! If he holds on its been a pretty good season taking a stage in the Tour and Vuelta

Without a doubt he's been beyond impressive in this race and without him doing what he's done the race would of been much poorer, a top 5 placing is a huge result

Not really day to day but the final Saturday stage of the Vuelta in 2005 and 2015.
