Just when you started to think Swift had Bewleys number.
But it does show how tough sprints can be, Swift has a superb sprint train but if it is blocked or just slightly out of position it can screw up. Which is I guess like real sprints in many way. Bewley vs Swift is a classic match up with plenty of other interested parties like Frankenstiens monster.
Best it seems I can hope for is low top tens. At least Gez is sprinting regurlarly. Splits not really doing much only to confirm Swift vs Bewley yellow match. One more before the first real GC dust up.
Thanks SN for reports enjoying them very much.

Interesting first sprint stages. Swift clearly the strongest while Bewley took advantage on a big harder stage.
Could also make an interesting fight for the point jersey this way. |

Nice win for Becherovka, congrats Roman, Bewley is simply a monster, thnaks for he report SN!
Great job from Grosu to finish 7th in such a field, i had this stage rounded in calendar as the one that could suit his abilities, so it is cool to see it did. Hopefully first of many top10s in his Tour career.
Gap right before Pluchkin is a shame, but it does not mean a thing for the overall, so no problem really.

Wow, reports are once again posted in a fabulous high-paced tempo, big thanks SN!
The prologue was quite what could be expected from Sergent, he was really close to a podium result, but I wasn't too lucky Sergent would have that needed top day on that day. Taaramäe was a little bit surprising winner, really good points for Crommy's team though! Nice to see a solid prologue from Velits too, good start from him.
Stage 2 was a little bit weird AI wise, sadly my team was so disorganised they couldn't create a sprint train at all for Bewley, but well at least Vesely allowed Bewley to take a place in the end of a sprint train. Vesuvio's sprint train was massively great and Swift deservedly was able to easily win, congrats SN, Van der Lijke's transfer is clearly paying off! 5th is not what was an expected result for Bewley, but 8th for Vesely is a really good one. Good to see our team being active, especially the idea why Sergent is racing here was exactly for destroying breakaways on flat stages.
Stage 3 was a decent one, nice to see our team creating a good sprint train, but sadly for us Swift was just too strong, but it was a nice duel. And well the last stage to Besancon was cream on the top. Superb work from my team to help to bring back the breakaway in a more difficult flat stage that could easily end up with a breakaway win if there wouldn't be our strong support team for Bewley plus another top quality teams with great sprinters. Our train was lucky to get through the original escapees, then it was quite an easy win for Bewley. What a nice way to get a first GT win for him! Only too bad he probably won't be able to wear the yellow jersey for at least one day in this TdF, this was a big chance missed, sadly only by one second.
The things will get more interesting overall from overall GC point of view now, hopefully Velits will be stronger than in Giro and my team will be able to support him in a similar way like they can support Bewley so far.

I sure hope Bewley goes crazy when it comes to contract negotiations What a season.
Anyway - still no significant crashes, still no stupid positioning by Sicard. All well. |

Pretty good from Vanderbiest on a tricky parcours, was expecting him to just not sprint. Elissonde losing time with the rest of my team will hopefully make us get in the breaks, so not a bad thing. |

Still Nome of my riders trying to join the breakaways.
Valls not losing any time so there is a positive.

Alright, first mountain stage is coming and the question on everybody's mind is: Can Pomoshnikov get another stage win (after already winning one this year at the Giro and Vuelta)

Bewley vs Swift has been fun, but I'm excited/dreading the first mountain stage, let's see how Rein can do...

Good job for Kinoshita to get in the break and grab some KOM points. My sprinters have been disappointing though.

So close, damn
I really thought Zabel had it for a second, he looked so well placed (something he seems to be excellent at) but then came Bewley...

That's another good sprint from Kristoff, Bewley proving his power coming from way behind going early as well. Zabel is incredible this Tour, always picking the right wheel, must be a thrill for Heine, eventhough the win is missing, which definitely makes sense considering his stats
And the mountains are here. Really hoping Martin is up for it and is riding aggressive, if so our goal of a top 10 overall should be doable. Really looking forward to see the big guns have a go at each other with Pluchkin being the big favourite. |

Swift train just completely misfiring now!
Bewley has been strong this race despite his positioning being pretty poor most of the time - he just has brute force and has pulverised his way to yellow.
He will be out of it soon enough though - Jose has kept himself like all the big guns in the right places but needs to show himself now.

Stupid AI using up Merino Criado on the front all day, when he is part of the lead-out train - could have just used a different Vesuvio rider! Still, at least he fluked the KoM jersey out of it
Glad that Swift got off to such a strong start, because Bewley is much better equipped to recover well during a GT.

At least a nice screenshot from the back of two of our riders
Morton where I expected him to be. Here's hoping that may result in a few breakaways in the final week then. Dombrowski won't be matched for the U25 rankings, but maybe Lecuisinier can be attacked somewhere.
Pluchkin already rocking it. Another points haul for Metinvest in the making? Probably. Nice to see the big guns battling it out on this stage.

Great stage, and great start from Rein. I would have liked him to be in yellow to get that bonus, but a nice gap down to 3rd is very promising so far.
Bring on the hills!
EDIT: although it does mean Metinvest will have to do the chasing, so hopefully their team will get tired out and isolate Pluchkin as the race goes on

Morton, Kunshin, Kolesnikov, Kirsch and of course Faiers once more in the perfect area to go for breakaways in 2nd and 3rd week mountains. Guess we will see at least 2 of those taking a stage win.
For the GC Pluchkin takes yellow and I am confident that he makes it a run to Paris now while the podium fight should be thrilling with Taaramae, Amador, Alarcon for now looking strongest. |
