Wow.. Very much hypocrisy in this thread. People complaining about everything Astana did, but don't mind Dumpulin basically now having 26 team mates vs the 6 Aru has left or even being happy about a crash by Aru.
So it's okay to cheat but only if it's in favour of a guy you guys like, great attitude.
The forum loves a Villian/Villians and Astana fill that role right now, I couldn't understand why most didn't have a problem when Lotto Jumbo came out before the TT and said they would work for Dumoulin, to me thats blatant cheating yet it was okay around here because it was for Dumoulin (and seems like for a few simply because he is Dutch). I could only imagine the forum meltdown if say BMC came out and said they would work for Froome and Sky or Aru and Astana. There is also a strange acceptance that breaking of the rules of the sport is okay for some riders but not others.....I don't get it

I'm starting to accept that Tom. D is going to win this Vuelta. He actually gained 3 seconds in Stage 19 against Aru, let's see if he can survive Stage 20, this will be the ride of his life.
Yeah he really shouldn't lose this race now unless Aru and Astana go crazy on stage 20, but all Dumoulin needs to do now is follow one rider as I don't see how any of the riders behind Aru have anything left to pull back enough time.
Also not to belittle Dumoulin in anyway because he has been extremely impressive to say the least here but this is his best chance to win a GT, I am still yet to be convinced he is a real 3 week GC rider, top 10 material for sure but not a rider who will be fighting for the win, he will never again go into a GT with his rivals underestimating him plus he will also have the pressure to perform on his shoulders. Everything fell his way in this race from underperformaning riders to others not taking him seriously early enough to himself being in perfect form. I hope I'm wrong because he seems like a good guy and is entertaining to watch (I like TT's) but there have been plenty of one time only GT winners

I agree, I dont know the nationalistic makeup of this forum for the most part but there is some weird he isnt from my country so he is cheating hatred around here. I am American and like American riders but I dont blindly follow anyone.
I mean the comments I have received for my opinions are blatantly nationalist and then they get offended when I call them out.
Maybe this is more of a thing in Europe in which you have multiple countries with lots of history next to you but I just dont understand blindly defending your national athletes while hating as hard as you can athletes from certain countries. |

So far he still have to prove more w/ other grand tour GC top riders, with the big boys like Froome.exe and Contador, both are also deadly in TT. Too bad Froomey crashed, I'm sure it would be a different battle if he is still around.

He doesn't have 26 team mates.
The Dutch Lotto's aren't able to help him there and haven't done so.
Tinkov blows a lot out of his *** but his riders won't just work for Dumoulin. Don't forget that they are people and not PCM riders. They won't just work for Dumoulin because crazy Tinkov said so in a tweet.
I don't think so, at least.
Dumoulin has been practically on his own for a while now. Lucky he had Degenkolb yesterday, that was a welcome gift from John! |

I actually pretty much expect Aru to win this Vuelta today as the race enters his territory again, if on the other hand Dumoulin manages to hold his wheel or indeed attack him like Horner did Nibali in the end a few years ago then Tom has certainly deserved his victory. I'd love to see Tom win and hopefully develop into a Miguel Indurain type GT rider but only time wil tell on that one.
As for this cheating aspect even if the whole Lotto NL and Giant team are behind him they are still no match for the remaining Astana men in the mountains.
Should be an epic stage today and just imagine Quintana going on a crazy attack today around 50kms out and pulling back the 3 mins he lost to take the Vuelta, that's fantasy I know but not impossible. Purito I doubt could do anything like that as he's a really just a man for the final few kms and he'd never get the time over the two above him. I don't see Majka getting much out of today either. |

Feel bad for Dumoulin if he loses the jersey on stage 20
Let's see if he can pick aru back up on the downhill. |
