Okay, you see a Movistar rider finish 4th, but come on...

Nice to see GT legend Hansen in top 10 in this stage.
Hope he can get another stage win in a GT soon Smile

Considering what happened to him at the Tour and he still managed to make Paris I'm convinced that the only thing that will stop him finishing a GT is not to actually start one. The guy is made from titanium

I Think Team Sky may have lost the team classification today despite Roche winning the stage. No third man in the neraby groups after the favorites.

Still for the life of me can't understand what was going through the organisers head when they designed this route and didn't have a MTF or serious uphill finish somewhere in the last 3 stages of the race. It has nothing to do with Dumoulin leading the race by only a few seconds but it has really pulled the teeth of the race. Imagine if the guys who turned up were in good shape (or didn't hold onto a team car) and we had Froome, Quintana, Nibali, Valverde fighting for the race victory with such poor stages to finish it off.

this stage was better designed than almost all of the mtf's we've already had.

Not sure why you'd need MTF's. I'm a big fan of finishes after around 10 kms of descent

mtf in the final week only mean that riders will delay/postpone their offensives until then

I wasn't talking about today's stage and agree that it was a nicely designed stage, I also like stages that have a climb and descent to finish it off but more talking that every GT puts in one last show down in one of the final stages, I'm not talking about a stupidly steep wall but something of descent length or varying grades

Still can't beat dem norwegians. I think. Pfft

Gonçalves 3rd. Still no stage win sadly, he deserves one already. Sad
Dumoulin looked very calm today. Very strong too.

Also, big lol at Roche almost loosing the fuckin stage to Zubeldia. On a sprint. If Haimar started spriting earlier...

I don't think Aru can attack on tommorows stage, which leaves stage 20 as his last chance. No matter what one might think of the design of the third week of the Vuelta, this is a real drama we have on our hands Smile

Stage 20 is the stage to survive..4x 1 cat climbs..after long Vuleta

Man, I would have loved to see Zubeldia win a stage. At least once when he tries something. On World Tour level. In his home Grand Tour. Guy has so little wins.. it's ridicilous for a rider of his quality.

Agreed, but if Aru doesn't manage to distance, Dumoulin before the last climb, i don't think he will make that gap. The last climb is from what i can see, not scary at all. 5-6-7% is just like Dumoulin likes it.

They have to go for it from the gun, Alpe d'Huez 2011 style. Just go for it. And hope he cracks like Voeckler.

I don't see it happening though. It would have happened by now if it was going to.

Worth noting: It's entirely his own fault he has (according to Wikipedia) no World Tour win, like at all! Guy is gifted as hell. But on this level you need to be active, attack and try your luck; crazy how he lacks this mentality of attacking when he's basque. Just sitting in the peloton throughout most of your entire career and becoming an internet meme for cycling cracks is good and all but it's not really what most people want out of a cycling race and at the end of the day, I imagine there will be plenty of what if's in his mind.

Maybe he will only retire once he gets a World Tour stage win. In that case, I hope he never gets one and never gets old. Smile

How good is Aru in downhill. Is there a little Nibali in there somewhere?

Dumoulin won't crack, but its enough for Aru to just win a stage. Aru will probably win stage 20.
