Very good that it is now between Aru and Dumoulin. They are the ones that deserve to win la Vuelta. These two actually went for it when they had to. Unlike Purito and Majka.

Majka couldn't and Purito did go more than Aru iirc. IMO Purito deserves it the most.

The rider who finishes on the top step at the end deserves it most

I just realized i like Aru a lot more than Dumoulin. Dude got style, super tanned, plaster on his nose (it looks cool!!), brave and has a big heart. When he has the legs, he usually goes. Just like i like riders.

I like Landa better, but come on Aru!

Style is the major thing that Aru lacks. that plaster on the nose...I mean, WTF?!

His style is unique, that for sure, but Mollemas style is as well.

I believe Dumoulin still have the legs to keep this small advantage until the end, it will tough, of course, but he was able to follow the pure climbers in tougher climbs than these ones that will come tomorrow or on Saturday...these will be great stages and I can't wait
Thank you Andy for everything!

Indeed, Im also very much looking forward to those, they cant disappoint as much as the last two mountain stages. Smile

I think the only way Dumoulin can retain it is to pick his spots carefully and go on the offensive, I dont think he can ride it defensively for 3 stages and basically one helper.

And what really got me going today was how Valv and Quintana performed. I knew Valv was the 2. best TT'er in the top-10, but with that margin? Didnt expect that, particularly considering how he was looking the last few days. Also a sublime ride from Nairo Q, thats especially promising - not for this Vuelta, but for the Tour when Prudhomme realizes that a Tour without a proper TT isnt a Tour.

Also pleasantly surprised by De Clercq's time trial. Actuallt his entire Vuelta. Best GT yet of him!

A bright spot in a horrendous Vuelta, though. I had expected either Monfort, DeClerq or VdB to top-10., but they have been incredible inconsistent, dare I say invisible the whole race.

I simply cannot bring myself to believe that a time trialist, who had never come close to attempting a GC in GT, not only survived every single mountain stage, sometimes better than pure climbers, but then somehow had the recovery to come back, after two weeks of fighting for GC, completely out of his element, and completely destroy everyone in the time trial.

Tom Dumoulin will win this Vuelta I think. He won't be dropped unless something crazy happens. He can now stand in arms among greats and legends in the sport like Chris Horner and Juan Jose Cobo.

If everyone hadn't waited until the final kilometre of each mountain stage, Dumoulin would be far behind now. But no.. Everyone was pussy.

This is end of the season..it has been sooo long season and so long and hard Vuelta already. Riders is on the limit..like at last mountain stage. This was not about attacking this was about surviving. Of corse at normal condition top form Quinatana has launched 12 km mountain attack..no he was not..he was dropped.
Pussy?..not pussy..smart enough do not make General standing suicide.
Who is best at the moment?
Aru who has recovered from Giro
Dumoulin (who has been great) who was forced to abandon Tour early stage
Purito..who was riding tour has non general classification rider
Majka..was was chasing just tour stage wins and was Conta helper

It's nothing compared to the way some really mediocre level Sky rider, who had shown exactly 0.0 before, almost beat the same Cobo in that Vuelta. And would have probably won if he hadn't spent so much time dragging Wiggo up the climb. Such a meteoric rise is nothing compared to Dumoulin, who at least has a 3rd and 5th place in the Tour de Suisse before

Plus, Dumoulin is not going to win. The advantage is too small.

Feels like I'm missing all the good action, but I'll catch on saturday some racing definitely and maybe watch a couple of highlight stages.

Aru is really in prime position to take this. If Purito wants to have any chance at winning, he needs to leave it all out on the road. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Just do it, Contador-style. But of course it's Purito we talking about, he's Mr Final KM-attack..

Very good TT by Valv, Top 5 would be a just good enough to keep his legacy of "Only Top 5@Vuelta" intact. Quintana should just wait at the finish line in Madrid for some seconds if it's down to that in the end. Pfft

It's bad route design and whoever is in condition, so many teams just making up the numbers

Nominate a clean GT winner in the last few years, how would Dumoulin be any worse than Froome, Wiggins, Contador, Hasjedal?
