Flood of Womens Giro stuff now! Often reffered to as the Womens Grand Tour, although it really should be longer to garner that kind of title. Big startlists as per usual.
The opening prologe went to Van Vleuten, denying Rabobank in 2-4th places.
Guarischi proves her value as a transfer, taking the stage 1 sprint for my favs Velocio. Brand a strong second, taking the GC lead, with Cromwell in third also for Velocio.
Guarnier outsprinted her attacking companions to win the rolling stage 2 and also taking the GC lead at the same time. Van der Breggen was 2nd with Moolman 3rd. Longo Borghini, Stevens and Abbott capitalise in their GC chases.
Brand won Stage 3 from a breakaway, ahead of Scandolara and Cecchini. Cucinotta headed the peloton home in 10th place.
Annalisa Cucinotta got her win the next day on Stage 4! Bastianelli was a surprise in 2nd ahead of Cecchini. A crash wiped out a number of racers by the end of the day but no-one of real note.
A long but gradual uphill finish to Aprica drew Ferrand-Prevot to the front. The WC taking victory ahead of Guarnier and Van der Breggen. But Guarnier did a super job in keeping her GC lead intact under pressure. She really is one of the pelotons most underrated riders.
And finally today. Mayuko Hagirwara brokeaway to win solo in a terrific long range attack. Hugely deserved for one of the great domestiques in the womens sport. Behind Guarnier continues to show her strength with another 2nd place ahead of the also very strong Moolman. The number of gaps behind though had shaved the GC battle down to about the Top8 overall now.
Stage 7 is a mountainous day into Logano ahead of the flat Stage 8 ITT. The race concludes in dramatic style on the final Stage 9 up to race favorite San Domenico di Varzo, a true summit finish to decide the race that could still go many many ways.

World Cup action resumes this weekend with the Sparkassen Giro. PCS Startlist function seems to be broken, at least for me. But expect similar names to those of the Chinese round. It's a flat race that should end in a sprint. Bronzini, Wild, Lepisto, d'Hoore are favorites. Don't count out current Cup leader Lizzie Armitstead who can contest victory on a good day and who should be looking to grow her lead over van der Breggen at least.
August is a busy month with the Sparkassen Giro followed by all three remaining World Cup events. The TTT in Sweden is a unique event much like the old Eindhoven TTT in the "Pro Tour". That's followed by a tricky road race in the same area of Sweden. Things conclude with the womens GP Plouay event at the end of the month.
As far as the competition goes Armitstead is moving into a clear favorites position. d'Hoore could challenge but will need to win either Sparkassen or Plouay, which she can do looking at how her year is going. Van der Breggen i expect to fall away. The TTT could prove to be surprisingly crucial as neither Boels or Lotto or Rabobank are the best TTT teams, though it is Rabo that carry the advantage over the other two.
I'll try and be online to provide some more detailed comments, or at least results, of the upcoming races. June-August are some of the best months for womens cycling with a number of very high quality events and especially serious stage races. It's well worth flicking through PCS to at least look at who's winning what at the moment.

Massive crash! - caused by one of the Team GB riders maybe touching a wheel.
Typical women's race really - fast paced, no attack gets more than 10 secs up the road, and ends in a bunch sprint

2 - Shelley Olds (USA) Ale Cipollini
3 - Annalisa Cucinotta (Ita) Ale Cipollini

Guarischi goes two-for-two in two days! Big win for her in the CDM Sparkassen Giro! Brand a strong second and Moberg a surprise 3rd. My outside pick of Lepisto in 4th. d'Hoore pulls back some points on Armitstead with 8th vs 11th.

Well time for an update!
First up, Boels Rental (yes they also have a team) Ladies Tour. Think of it kinda like a Womens Eneco Tour. Good startlist and challenging stages and excellent organization make this a cool and quite big race.
Stage 1 was taken by D'Hoore ahead of Garner and Wild. Jolien having a super strong season way ahead of expectations.
Stage 2 was also for D'Hoore, Wild up to second with Majerus completing the podium
Breakaway for stage 3 as Lauren HAll takes it ahead of Bastianelli, but it's the Italian that takes the GC lead. Wild was head of the peloton for third
Still three stages to go in this one. So onto another race, Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche. Bit of an odd one to focus on but you'll see why in a moment.
Stage 1 went to Fournier ahead of an Aussie double in Wells and Collins. Note that Cromwell is actually racing for the Aussie Team not Velocio (same for Rowney and Wiles)
Stage 2 time trial goes to Stephens, with Wiles second (can you guess why i mention this race yet?) and a big gap to Hammes in thrid.
Some really tough hilly days in amongst the 5 remaining stages, it's a small but really good race for the lesser teams.
Lastly some transfer news:
Wiggle-Honda has made some big statement signings. Both Emma Johannson (one of the best sprinters and all-rounders in the peloton) and Amy Pieters (one of the best classics and one-day riders in the peloton) will be joining! And they got an extension for d'Hoore. This 2016 team will be ridiculously good.

Tour Cycliste Féminin International de l'Ardèche
Scandolara wins the sprint on Stage 3 ahead of Cromwell and Eraud. Quite an uphill finish so gaps were produced a bit further down the peloton.
Breakaway win on a mountainous Stage 4 for Dobel-Hickok (even i don't know who she is). Taylor Wiles finished in the main group to defend her GC lead.
Boels Rental Ladies Tour
Brennauer took out the Stage 4 ITT to move herself into the GC lead
She then doubled up winning the Stage 5 sprint ahead of Wild and d'Hoore
De Jong took the final stage for Rabobank, but Brennauer was third to maintain that GC lead to claim overall race victory.

Brennauer is current ITT WC and has won 3 tt's this year compared to Van Djik's 1, so not surprising at all to me. But Ellen is a great time trialist and the gap was damn close!
