Aru only has about 30 sec ahead of Dumoulin. So with TT coming its not all in bag for Aru.

The problem is stages 14-16.

But even if he can limit it to say 4 minutes, he can get it back in TT

I guess he can make 1:30-2:00 on Aru in the TT, since its not very long.

Also about the Astana thing....Is there proof that Landa ignored orders? If not, its a senseless discussion.

Not the stage it was cracked up to be.

Bad ride by Quintana, great ride by Dombrowski, showing up at the end there. Of course he was beaten by a giant time trialist, so maybe not such a great ride.

Nice for Boswell to get the podium, though I haven't followed him since he went to Sky.

That's the problem when they over-hype these stages, it looked in the end just like any other mountain stage.

If Dumoulin can continue like so he's got a great chance (unproven over 3 weeks) because he'll take around 2mins possible out of Aru and Rodriguez in the TT, which makes it imperative that Aru and Rodriguez need to gain more time on him, personally I think Aru will win now, especially since he has Landa riding now as well as in the Giro. I think Rodriguez will tire and be unable to match Aru when it really matters.

Quintana disappointing today, but like any Tour de France contender he's jaded. Of the rest Majka could sneak a podium and he's a better TT rider than Purito and Aru as well.

Nice to see Landa just unleashing himself on the peloton. If Brailsford won't use him as a leader, Landa will simply do as he pleases anyway. Guy is awesome.

Havn't seen the stage but will catch up on it when I have some free hours. Looks to be an amazing showdown between Aru and Dumoulin. Maybe Purito can pull one off though, that'd be awesome. He'd fit well with the old winner crowd of Vuelta.

Just imagine if Sky can get Landa to TT as well, the thought of this would frightening.

Purito will be too well marked, unlike Horner who nobody took seriously until he won and Contador who was just too good for everybody else last year.

Oh, by the way: Aru and Landa killing the Tour guys. Shows what kind of duo Contador was up against at Il Giro.

I don't know what's gotten into Dumoulin honestly. If he podium's in a GT, something weird must have happened.

Also, Tinkov has been yapping on Twitter about withdrawing the team from the Vuelta because of the moto crashes. And while the moto crashes have been stupid,t hat's ridiculous. If I was Majka, sitting 4th in a GT, and my owner pulled our team out, I wouldn't be renewing there when my contract was up. I know it's just all talk, but yeah.

Brailsford?

Brailsford even kicked Wiggins out of tour (team was made for that rider)..after thought that he can work against leader.
Doing what he pleases is team leader thing..is Landa Sky leader?

I seriously don't get why you think Dumoulin's eventual podium in a GT would be so hard to believe. Just look at Indurain, who only started showing potential for a GT in 1989, when he was 24 years old+it was only a mountain stage win from a breakaway, nothing more. Otherwise he was just a TT-ist before 1990. We see pretty much the same here, apart from the fact he doesn't weight 80 kilos, but around 70, while being only 5cm shorter than the Spaniard, therefore a supposedly better climber. Maybe he's just in much better shape than the rest or he's showing his hidden GT potential. But there's no point in exaggerating what he's managed to achieve. We're still only halfway the Vuelta so there's yet more to come.

He certainly has the worst suffer-face in the peloton. Poor boy.

He really has one hellish face.
Don't know if that's the reason, but I don't like him all that much. Pfft
I don't know, I don't dislike him or anything, but I'll root for a lot of guys before I root for him.
Go Purito for this Vuelta, though Grin

It's about that face, same reason I don't like Voeckler or Gautier...

Could well be.
Also, I used to like Quintana a lot but since this Tour, not so much anymore. Come to think of it, it's probably that face, too. He's too stoic all the time, I think.

Most important result of the day: Adam Hansen made the time cut. Pfft

He told Cyclingnews some days ago he wasn't sure he would be able to finish the stage.

And it also shows how incredibly hard it is to do the Tour-Vuelta double.. at least if you are doing the GC.

I like what Landa did today. He deserved that after he got robbed at Sestriere, winning the most prestigious stage in the Vuelta like that was pure class. Beautiful win!
