Criterium du Dauphiné Liberé Discussion

Ah, big missed opportunity there. I'd rather win races than the rankings, and that really was a chance to win the Dauphine. Schleck attacking first would have done that, but too slow to react and it cost him. At least he won the stage. There's something about Taaramae and the Dauphine, clearly.

But the performance from the rest of the team continues to be incredible. Suaza in a position he has no right to be in. 2 on the podim would be quite a feat, but it's a hill stage to end the race and if it is raced hard he could lose bucketloads of time. Super way to bounce back from the crap luck of abandoning the Vuelta though.

Thanks Gustav for the report, and ember for posting

Bullshit race. Lecuisinier underperforming, again. Pichon attacks on the wrong terrain, again. Wellens and Suaza hugely overperforms, again... So much for leading the PT.

Not a good race for the Frenchmen really - Elissonde and Sicard are much the same. It's been an absolutely dire race for us, Elissonde missed his chance there really and it could cost us dearly - I really need a Faiers type French GC rider in the next bunch of talents for races like this Wink. Still, we might do something on the final stage, and none of our relegation rivals except Bouygues are doing that well.

Mmm, I guess Kritskiy has to have a really good day tomorrow to keep his position;

Taaramae is putting up a great fight here, and it looks like he may have done enough to win. Tomorrow should be interesting. I'm just glad Nibali has been doing relatively well for himself, I think this is his best race this year.

Great TT from Brändle and not a bad Mountain stage, had a small hope of a top 10, but I will be happy with a top 15 from him Smile

Blikra doing well in the break aswell

Good time - trial for Gesink although it could have been a little bit better.

Good stage on Ventoux as well. Hopefully Gesink can make up those 2 minutes on that walking positive in the last stage.

Very cleverly rode by Taaräme so far - He has every chance of keeping yellow on the final stage now.
Nice to see Schleck taking use of his climbing abbillity and nab a stage for his team aswell. Suaza having the race of his life it seems, but it will be quite hard to keep that spot with -10 hill on everyone though.

Dauphine really has a odd top 10 so far.. But as a final test-race for le Tour I guess it got to be expected Pfft

Pozzovivo struggled after his nice first mountain stage, but I happily take his 8th place here. A stage-win with the team adds points, so it went fairly better than what Morton and Goss had to offer in the TdS.

Aker with another breakaway victory, still quite interesting to see some teams really nabbing points where other teams are nowhere to be seen.

Nice victory for Taaramae, huge race for Vesuvio! Congrats to you guys.

Good race for Gesink. A podium is always welcomed and it would have been very hard for him to do any better than he did.

Good final stages from Pardilla & Moreno. I think my team went in more breaks since Urans crash then they did in the rest of the season. Gaves us a bit of points from an otherwise very disappointing race. Looking at the GC, Uran might have been able to get a top 5.

Thanks for the reports, Gustav!

Well, that was crap.

Great reports and great race for the neutral though. Congrats to Crommy and SN on their respective results, and thanks to Gustav and Ember for the reports Smile

Pretty good race for me.

Keizer only rider to disappoint a bit here. The first mountain stage was horrible and so it was only a late top20.

Villella was active in the beginning to take over the KoM for a day.

Boom was in the break for the last 3 days. So quite a pity that he couldn`t be higher in the KoM then.

Aru was doing pretty well here as co-leader. Olivier a bit less but still decent. Probably mainly helper.

Groenewegen was great. 2 top5`s for him as also the U25 lead for the first days.

The TTT...well, this was shit though. Pfft Team waiting for Groenewegen. Don`t see any other reason to finish that far behind.

Thanks for the reports! Nice read!

Congrats to SN mainly for a brilliant GC result with Suaza! Also Bouygues for another strong duo GC including the win. And nice to see Gesink that high. Congrats alexkr.

Slagter held on to KoM, nice ^^ Really awesome race for Vesuvio this ranking wise too. With especially Suaza impressing. Taaräme also winning the race as I predicted Cool

Gesink continuing his great Vuelta form and gets another podium here.

Thanks for the reports, exciting race!

0 points on the road...0 breaks..0 screenshots ..ehmm..that's alll..

Grats to Taaramae, called it Cool

Only points I expect is riders finishing the race, we should theoretically go into breaks but who knows. Andy should be the man to beat and actually race like 85 MO unlike one other 85MO guy Rolling Eyes but I think Taaramäe will surprise again.

For the love of f...... god! Lecuisinier ending behind Geniez in the GC is as PISPOOR as it's going to get!

Pichon attacking on both mountainstages, NOT on the hilly stages like he should - And those stages were (funny enough) won by the breakaway. The AI is truly fucked up if you don't have the best 3-4 riders in the race.

Vesuvio is off! They will get ATLEAST a similar amount of points as I did in the Tour of Suisse., so the lead is officially over. Vesuvio is going into the Tour de France with a lead of aproximately 350 points to us, and 550-600 to Becherovka. They are really in a top position to win the entire thing now. I suspect that Becherovka might be able to come really close to Vesuvio after the Vuelta though, and from there on I guess it is going to be a two-horse race.

In that aspect I have to be really happy that neither Aker, nor Tinkoff did an ace job here, although Aker (as usual) won a fluke breakaway stage. They really do this like no other.

What have you gotten away with (in terms of points) from fluke stageresults so far ember? 600-700 points?

EDIT:

Sorry for the outburst. I am ill and pissed at the moment, and shouldn't really be posting at all. I'll let the post stand, so it doesn't seem like I'm just putting the tail between my legs after a mistake. I'll stop commenting in here until I am feverfree again.Embarassed

Well, that was an interesting race.

I kinda 'sold' Sicard GC-wise with that weak TTT, and he lost quite a lot of time in the TT, perhaps also a bit more than expected. So Sicard wasn't in an easy position, but even so he should have done a lot better on Ventoux. Lost way too much time there.

That being said, awesome showing by the team! 3 stage wins and even a 2nd spot on the TT by Viennet. Just awesome. Also quite 'funny' to see Sicard lead out Kennaugh for the Brit's 2nd stage win...

Edit: I hadn't really taken note of Geniez' GC spot before seeing SotD's post. Great!

Ooooh, 1 second off a podium for Suaza. Still, a 3rd key stage of overperformance by him for an incredible result.

A close 2nd for Schleck. Well of course a win would have been good, he was beaten fair and square by Taaramae - failure to gap him on the mountains proving costly.

Phenomenal race for the team though, from those 2, to the TTT, to Slagter's KoM, to Kirsch in the Top 20 and high in the U25 competition.

Thanks again Gustav/ember. Was great to see Galta getting a victory at the end there too!

Much like the Vuelta I enjoyed that race from an observation point of view after my sprinter refused to sprint bug.

Taaramae surprising and a good race for the established pt teams with some of the newer ones looking very ragged.

Thanks Gustav, ember et al.

That was not a good race for us. Impressed by Taaramae though. Many thanks for the reports!

Truly nice to get a great end in this race after what was a somewhat disappointing race from Guldhammer looking at the GC after the final stage and his time loss there.

Boasson Hagen in the hilly classics says hi. No podium since the third place in LBL last season Pfft But on the other hand that's also part of the game and the variation that should be possible, I think, eventhough it's frustrating at times.

A guess is that we're at 400-500 points from breakaways. But that's admittedly a wild guess.

I'll argue we're built for them though, with no top leader stat wise, and several riders with good looking stats for breakaways, 75-76 in the relevant stat combined with good fighter and acceleration, also riding the stage races.

Of course I'm not going to claim that it was all built for breakaways in stage races, but it was in my mind when building the team for stage races, which kind of doesn't make it completely fluke breakaways, I feel Pfft Eventhough some of the breakaways that have been allowed to go in general this season have been due to weird/stupid AI.
