I know it was posted, but there's the article. Great signing for Garmin. They really needed it.

Interesting signing. My real question is who is going to be their TDF leader next year? They are too big of a team to not have a real top GC threat.

What about Etixx then? They're way bigger and have no real GC rider at all.

Oh come on.. Hesjedal gone, Rolland joining. It'd had been so much fun to see them both ride together. Well, at least this they have done right. Rolland is a great signing, let Trek have the old guys like Schleck, Zubeldia and now Hesjedal.. Trek seemingly don't learn their lesson anyway.

Maybe Rolland can be turned into a proper Ardennes specialists as well, combine Hesjedal and Martin sort of. I remember some action from him in the Ardennes but he isn't that good on hilly terrain to make a real impact still. Maybe he can be key to liven up the Ardennes more in the future.

Rolland is 28...he isn't that young either. I don't think he will develop much further.

That's like the best age for a pro cyclist. Golden years of Pierre Rolland Energy Wasting Attacksâ„¢ are upon us, my friends!

I hope so. I love exciting racing action. But what I meant was, that he won't become a real contender for the ardennes or for Mountains. He will still be an attacking rider, for sure, but I doubt he will get much better.

Etixx aren't a team that focuses on GC wherein Katusha do so its not really comparable. There isn't much top shelf GC talent on market at the moment so maybe Katusha are waiting until next season when some bigger names come out of contract. That or Zakarin goes full Froome Wink

Peter Stetina signs for Trek https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/peter...ry-racing/ is it only me or are Trek signing supporting riders in order to have a real go at signing TVG next season?

possibly, use them as support for Mollema next year and when he doesn't extend his contract (pretty sure was a 2 year deal) they can sign TVG next season. though I doubt that they would look towards 2017 already

The main reason I think it's a possibility is because its Trek, I've listened to interviews with the Trek people about the whole Trek Factory Racing setup which they consider one team with road, MTB and CX and it's all about selling bikes. It's one of the reasons I think they went and signed Hesjedal, he got a free pass with his doping confession and is a rider they can market using there bikes, Cancellara was the main marketing tool but he ageing rapidly so they need another name. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Trek are thinking about 2017 already, I'm not talking about team management but the people who control the team budget who are really the ones in charge of this outfit.

Precisely. Stetina is a great signing for the US Conti Scene, where Trek got their butt kicked by BMC. It's good to see them having learned their lesson. It's all about performing in your market area and selling your bikes with good riders. I hope it works out, Trek is a good company to sponsor a team.

Cance is also not only mostly injured recently but he will also retire in 2016. At that point, they will have to react and it'll free up some budget. Hesjedal, Mollema and Schleck, who still holds a pretty big name compared to his recent performances, can do well in Grand Tours next year but that's about it - sure, Trek have quite an old-aged team but I guess their reasoning is that one more year can't hurt... But like you said, in 2017 they will have to go all in for a proper big (US) rider and that's TVG. It's gonna be huge payday coming in for TVG. Well that is to say, maybe Joe Dombo makes his breakthrough till then.. Or maybe Talansky, nah just kidding. Pfft

Etixx-QuickStep confirm they've signed Dan Martin for two seasons.

I'm done with Cycling. Fuck this.

Edit: Actually no. Fuck him. I hope he crashes just as much as he did with Garmin and wonders why his team support won't help him then. This is all good. Just more chances for Dombrowski to shine and get better leadership opportunities. Fuck traitors.

and know it's actually justified to make this rant Pfft

In somewhat surprising news Arnold Jeannesson signs with Cofidishttps://www.biciciclismo.com/es/jeanne...28-08-2015 With what he has been saying I thought he would retire or sit out a year. They also renew with 8 riders.....

Well, it was inevitable.

I really don't understand his point. He says he needed to get to the next level in his career. I didn't know there was another level for a puncheur higher than winning monuments? Maybe WC, but that has nothing to do with trade teams.

Then he says he is excited to teach Alaphillipe? Is he suddenly at the end of his career, resorting to be a mentor? He just turned 29 last week, he is in his prime. And Aalaphillipe, if he continues on his pace, has maybe one more season before he really wants at least duel leadership in Ardennes classics, So Martin basically signing away his rights to lead and be supported.

I don't understand, but I'm not him, so I can't control it. He has stupid reasoning, but that doesn't make it personal for me, it makes him an idiot.

I guess Alaphilippe will already lead the coming ardennes, next year. so Dan just degraded himself to a super-domestique. It would only make sense, if he already knew, what shitty transfers GarCan would make(maybe he knew that Hesjedal and others would leave and he wanted a more "pro" Team) Still a bad transfer for Etixx, giving away Uran. I hope they'll announce something good soon.(Like keeping Cav and signing Kittel, Dege, Nibali(if Vino wants to get rid of him), Sagan and more)
