why boo.
No need to waste any energy at these sharp speed bumps..wait..when real mountains come
they didn't do anything, I don't like that. I don't care if it's smarter to save energy (which it totally is) I prefer seeing exiting race for stages and overall. today was neither
I understand why they didn't do anything but I don't like it |

Impey's role can not be underestimated. Once again, OGE perfectly placing their riders when they need to. |

Wow, great win for Chaves. It's a pity he won't have any real support for the mountains, but he's certainly making the most of every opportunity here.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYY!
Great teamwork, Chaves is on fire, even Piti thinks he is

After having two anonymous Grand Tours so far this year, Orica Green Edge are definitely back to their old style of racing, being the sensation of the first week. They will fade like usual towards the third week, but anyway OGE are so pumped with talent, it's really incredible..

yes and great rider he is..and Sastre was..is Chaves like that also at long climbs..
Actually, he won L'Avenir, in the year Quintana was defending champion... some people here say he is better than Nairo climbing... but really worst in ITT... so...

Ummm how exactly were OGE anonymous at the Giro? They won the TTT, a stage with Matthews and held pink for 4 days hmmmm not my definition of anonymous

Really, uh? My mistake then. Maybe should have looked up the results again, then again I only had eyes for Contador and Landa at the Giro, ;D

Great to see Chavez showing up so well in this Vuelta as they did say after the Giro this was his real target this season, I think with all the effort he is putting in to hold onto the jersey will mean he faded as the race goes on, hopefully it doesn't but I'd be surprised if he holds onto a high place by the time the race ends. No matter what happens now he can go into next season with confidence and target a high overall in a GT with a little more climbing support, he really is starting to develop into the rider he looked like being before his accident. Looking to next season OGE really do look like they are building a team who will show up in more than the first week on GT's.

Wow, Chavez must be reading my posts on this forum, and shutting me up.
But obviously, this is still the first week, and I still have my doubts he'll finish top 10. But he's been bloody impressive. Very nice.
I honestly think Chavez is a better rider for the Ardennes classics. He's fairly explosive, and I think when Gerrans and Albasini retire, and if Orica keep him on their squad, they get a rider who can finish top 5 on all of the Ardennes. |

How long before Sky decides to add Chavez to their mountain train? |

I can see how Chavez might be a choice for the Ardennes but I think he will end up being more of a climber than a punchy climber, the Yates brothers have Ardennes written allover but in saying that they can be anything at this stage

Live blogging today's stage.

Big gap currently for the breakaway, and they could possibly stay away. Amets Txurruka in the break, OGE not really setting tempo. They may be gifting him an early present. |

I wouldn't say those doubts are laughable. This is a whole new level for him for sure, but in the other GT's he's done, he's also done well in the first week and then fallen off as it went on.

The breakaway is 9.40minutes ahead with around 39km to go.
They should make it.

There are people, experts, physicians, etc.
who say that you can't win a 3-week tour
without any pharmaceutical help.
So you could say that not doing well
in the 3rd week of a Grand Tour is a good sign.
Apart from that a certain race hardyness is required
and that comes with age and experience. |
