"He [Froome] is bidding to become the first Tour de France champion to go on and win the Vuelta later in the same year, and only the third rider history to win the Tour and Vuelta in the same season." |

Sorry but Cyclingnews is correct on this one, the Vuelta used to be held before the Tour so the riders who have won the Tour-Vuelta double in the past have done it before the tour where if Froome wins it he will be the first rider to do it after the Tour

Hmm that's a really good catch. Forgot about that. Some cheeky wording.

Im hoping they simply will see who the stronger rider is, hoping Quintana is , but kinda fearing Valv will put his mark on that team. Just not hoping for another Aru-Landa situation, Movistar is too good for that
Anyways, hopefully one of them will win and put Astana to sleep. |

I hope Valverde is better, but if Quintana is stronger, they should let him lead.

Hopefully Gerrans and some good luck and can contest a few stages, maybe Ewan can contest in some sprints in what (as I have seen so far) is a relatively weak sprinting field and Chaves can keep up with the leaders a bit, top 10 and/or second in youth?

Chaves top 10?
No chance. He doesn't seem that good over the 3 weeks. I see him more as a one week stage racer, and a stage hunter in GT's. |

Surprised Meyer is in the squad considering he is on his way out the door but guess when it gets to the Vuelta you use whatever fit bodies you have on the squad. A top 10 would be a great result and the team say he was aiming at this more so than the Giro so let's see if that's true but I think he will be stronger next season.

You have to remember that he is still a year behind in his development thanks to that horrible accident, they say this is the GT he was aiming for this season so let's see how he goes, I still think next year will show if he is a 3 week rider.

Even the cycling hippies over at Rouleur is joining in on the Vuelta which has become the most popular race to criticize - then it's getting serious!
I can't wait, so many interesting scenarios, especially at Astana. Landa is the outsider on that squad, but even Aru and Nibali dont seem to be the best friends and will probably jump at any opportunity. Quintana in shape is the better GC-option (even in a race like the Vuelta), but question is the ever consistent Valverde who always is massive in this race. All I can hope is that we wont get get caught up in those tactical battles between those riders - I wanna see who is the best!
Then we have Froome and jokers such as Pozzo, Majka, Tejay and JRod. Something interesting about the Vuelta compared to the Tour is the top of the peloton probably is as good if not better (GC-wise), while some of the lesser team brings their b-squad, making for some absolutely horrible teams.Think 5-7 french teams in the Giro.
Edit: And I forgot to mention, surprise surprise(!!), that Betancur hasnt been selected. Fuck you, just fuck you Betancur.

He was rather weak in the Giro, but I have high hopes for him this year. I dont think he can reach top-10, but I mean, it isnt that unrealistic. The guy can climb which he has shown multiple times and also did on the first MTF last year. Some guys just need a few GTs in order to fully develop |

Good article, thx.
If Froome makes the Double it'd be incredible but I very much doubt it. Last time he did full Tour-Vuelta the Spaniards absolutely destroyed him. Astana is indeed a killer squad; hopefully Landa enjoys a free role. In tag-team with Pozzo, those two may be so much fun to watch and guarantee for nice attacking racing. It's only normal that Aru and Nibali are presumably leaders, they are well experienced in doing 2 GTs a year by now.
