Good to get through that stage with all riders crossing the finish line for the last time safely, which means it's time to celebrate Guldhammer's fifth place
Really happy with that one, and eventhough we didn't win a stage or anything, it feels like one of the better MG experiences as we've definitely punched well above our weight here, being strong in various breakaways and ending it with a 5th overall. One of the reasons for the great excitement from this race was obviously roturn's great reporting. Thanks a lot!
Congratulations to SN on an epic overall win in what must go down as one of the most thrilling conclusions to a MG race there ever has been. On the other hand, it's been an amazing Giro for Festina as well. Before the start of it you could never imagine them running away with as many points as they have with the riders they brought.
Second in the teams classification is a lucky bonus for us. It has been very nice to see our Norwegian kids being on the attack in the mountains. Hopefully we can make one of them a contender for the podium in the distant future. |

Not the best GT for us considering the competition, I expected a little bit more... Even through 7th place is actually not really bad, Velits was unable to get any decent extra points in addition to that. If Kratochvila wouldn't have a stage win and Vesely a few decent stage results, this race would be really really big disaster for me.
Congrats to SN, what a fantastic battle for the overall win, surely one of the best battles in MG GT history. Also a big move to win the PT this year for Vesuvio. Congrats to SotD, Avin and ember too, their teams had a great Giro as well. Ane for the one last time big thanks to roturn for the reports. What an amazing pace and quality!

This is a giro that has been filled with joy for us. Almost only ups and very few downs. If I should be harsh, this last mountain stage is definetely a small letdown. Losing horribly amount of time to Guldhammer when we had 5th place "secured" and we had some teammates in the group but they didnt help Festina so we could defend our fifth place, as we already did help Festina before on previous occasions in the giro, so I dont get why we didnt do it again. Its not like we were gonna pass Ricco under any circumstances anyway. 6 minutes definetely comes from the group stopping completly for a while. 6th place is still amazingly good and way better than any pre-race expectations. But I agree with Sotd on this stage, losing so much time here doesnt make much sense.
As this is our PT debut, I couldnt have been much happier with the result, I think we showed that the wildcard was well deserved and our only PT-race this year has been a success.
Madrazo has been really bad tactical though in the opposite of Schleck, Who definetely deserved the GC win with the gutsy riding. Huge congrats to SN for bygging another GC-win with Schleck. If only Madrazo had countered Schleck immidiatly today and earlier in the tour, I think we would have a different winner.
Although its a shame with Riccos massive GC-drop is it nice to see mangame legend and my small pre-race favourite "the little prince" finish on the podium for one last time.
The race has awesome to follow and two stages everyday is as good as its gets. Huge thanks to Roturn for massive effort.

Huge disappointing collapse from Ricco, that's a real bummer. But congrats to SN on the win. Thank you for the reports as well, this was another great and exciting Giro. Disappointing for my team though as we didn't really get anything out of it. After that shameful display by Nibali, I think he may be fired next year.

First of all thanks so much for the reports. I really appreciated the pace of them.
It was a great race. Cunego started off bad, but he steadily went up the rankings, and 2 stage wins is also pretty good for us. Cunego also very close to winning the points jersey, that would have been a bonus for us, but obviously a podium was the hope and we achieved that.

Is he going to Le Tour?If yes,I sense a battle with Pluchkin |

This must hurt for Swisscom with higher hopes for Nibali. This will be a long relegation fight for them. Also RedBull (Guerao) and Bacardi (Uran) surely had higher hopes for a few more points.
First 6 teams not a big surprise here.
But somehow a lot surprised by nice points by Good Energy. Wasn`t really aware of this except for the Ponzi win and some breakaway performances. Their GC riders though or better call them 4th tier climbers, didn`t show anything. |

Thanks both SN and roturn for making this update possible!
And thanks again for the reports, roturn. Probably my biggest whining race ever, but hey, I had such big goals here (well planned, imo ..), that it was frustrating to see none of them playing out.
Points-wise, it's still a fair result for Oz. Should have been better, but could've been worse. If only we had won the TTT... Goss felt like the only top sprinter to NOT win a stage, too. And of course Faiers!! So I guess you get my pain This is likely to be our biggest GT score this year, so a little bit more would have been nice.

More than 600 points is very, very good considering the squad we had here, and it keeps the (too) ambitious goal of a top 5 alive. Wwe'll need to score well in the Ardennes with Boasson Hagen as well considering that goal, because we should be far from the big points in the Vuelta.
Luckily we should at least on paper do well in the races between now and the next Grand Tour.
And thanks for the update, roturn and SN. Indeed a pretty bad race for both Simply Red Bull and Swisscom in terms of what was expected. Especially for Swisscom that's bad news, as it probably means they can only trust Amador for big points, which means survival will be difficult. |

Pretty average Giro for us, one stare win is nice but as we see in points it don't add up to a lot when it comes mid race. But it is something and considering this was a big team of developers from me it is what I deserve.
Vesuvio and QS big point scorers but that should be so considering guns they had. Festina had joy with Greek and Reek. Still Ricco late collapse is what race will be remembered for by me!
Goss did at least sprint I guess tsmoha... You said top sprinter fat ass Goss is a top class roadblock !

Ahh, those 447 points would've come in handy for us..
Still, virtually scoring more than 50 % of the PT teams here is a nice bonus. If we only could outscore 50 % of the PCT aswell

And we almost double how many points we already had this season in just this race. I think we will still end up being in the bottom 5, but hopefully this can help us out of the relegation spots.

Ouch, barely scored anything there. I guess we're gonna relegate.

I was under the impression that we've done better. The points scale doesn't look that good in the end.
If Gesink doesn't perform in La Vuelta, we might be on our way to relegation

Thanks for the brilliant reporting Roturn and rankings update, same for SN!
We obviously had a big big race with bunch of TTists who cant climb + one beast named Mikhail. And that beast racked the amount of points i even could not imagine before the start of the race. This was our weakest GT lineup on paper this year, as other two GTs will see the team built around Aleksandr Pluchkin, so i hope for even more points from these. It is shocking how much points we get from Giro with only two guys finishing the race.
Our season looks perfect so far, with lots of our projected relegation rivals loosing some ground here at the Giro and we should still sit comfortably in top15-18, i think.
Big congrats to Vesuvio,Festina,Quickstep, Meiji and other successful teams, this race was a thrilling battle until the end and will come to my mind as the great spectacle.
Cant wait for Vuelta.

Also Tinkoff only lost 1 which seems to be their big bonus as they used to finish a GT with many riders in the past already.
Actually it is the first time we don't finish a GT with all of our riders, but I can't blame Novikov to much, he was a late addition to the Giro-squad, when Trofimov decided to ride the Tour of California instead of the Giro.
635 pts; NICE!
