Great reports roturn, just a shame we seem to want to lose time wherever we can.

Time for some awesome stages now, still in the top-20, but I hope my team will go into break away mode and win a stage and/or the KoM jersey!

Stage 15 with a lot of Pinot's rivals losing a minute would be good I thought, as surely he'd struggle in the MTT? So imagine my surprise when he took 12th, and lost less than a minute to pretty much all his rivals |

Slightly below expectations from Brajko in that MTT, but no disaster.
Now time for some epic mountains stages, bring it on!!
Victory battle getting tight aswell!

Very encouragin from Stake Laengen, but definitely a surprise to see him beat Guldhammer. Our captain's loss means Denifl is suddenly a serious threat for the GC, and also Pozzovivo is a bit too close for my liking.
Hopefully Guldhammer finds his climbing legs again on the next stages, it will definitely be needed if he's going to keep his GC placing.
Congratulations to Alakagom on the stage win, a much needed one for Madrazo, which sees him still in the fight for the overall, and thanks for the report, roturn. Really looking forward to the decisive mountain stages! |

Ricco really lost time there - you have to wonder if his recovery is all shot through. Cmon Ricky give yourself a shot of the good stuff!
The next stage looks horrible and should lead to a real sorting out, too much chaff holding high GC here time for them to be jettisoned a la Thomas at the Tour!

Congrats to Quickstep, finally a bright light for them in this season, Madrazo is still there to fight for the top spot with Ricco and Schleck.
No reason to comment our MTT result, we dont have single suited rider in Italy...
Nice report Roturn!

Thanks for another detailed report!
Smart enough to allow Kohl going up that way. I'm whining and whining, but nothing happens Wait, something happens: Pozzovivo drops further down

Great stage win in the TT, some nice redemption after so-so stages however I don't understand how come Madrazo is always last one to attack and always trying to bridge to Schleck....every freaking MTF...same thing....it's really taking the piss, what is wrong with him..XD Still in a chance of overall but if he's going to miss all the crucial moves and try to bridge in next stages then there's literally no hope
Great report Roturn, top work.

I really don't understand how can Brajkovic be better than Velits in every single mountain stage in this race... The battle for the victory is amazing though. Thanks for the report, they are great to read roturn.

Well, that looks like 4th or 5th for Cunego at this point. Not much hope of a podium unfortunately, but I suppose thats still decent. Great win for Kohl too!

Massive effort with this Giro till this point, Roturn. Sure strange time gaps, a la rollercoaster, but it makes for some great entertainment. Whatever happens after this point, this has been a phenomenal Giro for Festina.
Schleck, still in a great position for the win, but there aren't any really long mountain top finishes left and I am not sure he would put more than '50 into Ricco on all days of the week in that TT. Still could go either way there... |

It can be frustrating seeing other teams again and again in breaks when you have similar riders. For us this is not the case our team is very average here at the Giro, still it would have been nice for someone to try and jump out the pack every now and again in the mountains!
Ricco did very well there, used his team and others to chase Schleck and Madrazo. Cunego had a good day but still way back on a podium, another stage of crappy festival chasing means guys like Schleck do miss out on valuable stage placing sand mountain points. Can Ricco hold on for another day, who knows that was certainly the hardest finish from what I could see...
Madrazo losing a bit more time on Schleck also really highlights what a tight battle this could be.

Can't complain with this... I don't really want Brajkovic coming much closer as he is a much better TT'er than Ricco, so atleast let's keep the gap around that.
Still in the lead, and still leading points as a 1-2 is good. Tzortzakis will drop significantly now, but as long as we have a rather big group going away he should be able to stay in the top 10 before the final stage, where he can hopefully jump a few spots back. Ricco might be lucky enough to stay around 3-4 in the points competition.
Ricco clearly losing the shirt tomorrow, but I was certain that he would lose it today, so another 18 points for the lead. I'll happily take that!
EDIT: Thought I saw Brajkovic gaining here, I was wrong.
I can live with Schleck and Madrazo going up the road - They can do that all they want. I just want to stay with Cunego and Brajkovic now.

Poor backup stats I guess... Same problem Denifl has.
If we check the three riders and their physical attributes:
Velits: 75, 74, 76
Denifl: 75, 71, 76
Brajkovic: 77, 80, 80
I guess it is why Ricco also does better. He is 80, 81, 81

Stamina and recovery have almost no effect, only resistance does. And well in both cases yes Brajkovic benefits a lot from it.

Recovery doesn't mean anything on stage 17 in a GT?

Yea, I believe Kent did tests showing recovery has almost no effect, of course you can see some effects have when its 80 vs 68 or something but few stats off between each other it's all pretty negligible.

Great stage, I´m happy to see Faiers in front. Pity he couldn´t beat Kohl in the end, but 2nd place in such hard stage is impressive. Congrats to Wacko.
Battle for overall is still open, can´t wait for next reports!
And one more thing, roturn:
In the end though Faiers really came close again for 2nd.
Does it mean we´ll find Faiers again in break, as this was his first serious attempt during Giro?
