Vuelta al Pais Vasco Discussion

From perspective of my team, I´m really getting tired of all this shit. Fucked up PCM14.

Nice report, thanks to both Selwink & SN.

Avin, is that you?

Ricco didn't exactly fuck up here, but yet again the first attack wins.

Either Trofimov is saving himself for the ITT or he is preparing a big attack for stage 4/5 (or he is tried of winning this race Pfft)

It would be nice if Gesink would at least try Frown

Pretty good couple of stages for us - shame Petit got boxed in as a podium was possible. Have to hope Gautier keeps gaining time, seeing as he is an awful TTer.

CrueTrue
That was pretty disappointing. Sicard was where he should be, but letting two top guys away like that... stupid.

Great to see Boasson Hagen win! Looks like he really has found out how to do well in stage races considering his Paris-Nice performance as well.

I think we're doing decent in the teams classification as well with Boasson Hagen up there and a couple of the team mates coming home with the peloton, would be nice to see the standings there as well.

Now it's all about the next stage. An overall podium should be safe looking at the gap to Trofimov, but he probably needs to gap Van Garderen and Bakelants to advance in the GC after the TT as well, considering how unpredictable they've been so far this season.

That could prove difficult though, as especially Van Garderen looks super strong here considering his stats. It surely will be a very interesting stage 5, looking forward to it!

Oh, and a pity Boasson Hagen wasn't given a gap down to Van Garderen on this stage, as there clearly was one. But I guess he can't have everything Pfft

Congrats ember and Mre (for taking the lead)!

Quite a showing from the big guns, which is cool to see. Not too cool for Bobridge, but at least he's moving up near the Top-15 today. If he keeps those gaps in the next stage, he could do some damage in the TT. I fear he will struggle in this tough next stage though Wink

A breakaway appearance would be nice now. Morton maybe Smile

Tejay! Tejay! Tejay!

From not being mentioned in the preview to the yellow jersey. Quite a rollercoaster this one is turning out to be. Can't wait to see if he can hold on.

Not bad once again from Gautier, but I fear he may drop out of the top 20 during the TT without a bit more time gained.

Great win from Hagen, and very well done to Van Garderen.

I'd like Jan to take some more time out on Trofimov tomorrow, just to be sure of that final podium. But if he does finish top 3, that's above what I expected

Great aggression by Gastauer. Paid off in Stage 3, not so much in Stage 4. More time gained on the larger group on Stage 5 would be very much appreciated before the time trial.

Interesting battle for the win now too with EBH very much in the mix. TJ always seems to be up there in PT races, never quite winning - so good chance for him now, but so much potential for big gaps on Stage 5 if it is raced right.

The hilly stages would better prove to be this selective in La Vuelta too. I guess a top 5 is all can I hope for in what is my win goal for the season.

TVG is riding out of his mind. Great to watch.

As long as he stays on his bike for the ITT we are going to get our 1st PT victory! And just my 2nd overall stage race victory in MG History in 4 seasons. Smile

Another quiet stage from Oz. At least Bobridge looks set to fight for a Top-12 in the GC now. He should be able to fight for a good result in the TT - which would be really nice, given the fact that I didn't spot too many Oz colors in five days of racing!

Not sure, if someone like Gautier is in reach then, but with a good daily form (please), it may be doable.

Poor stuff from Hagen. Had hoped for a closer GC 1-2 for the TT.. Stupid to allow Izagirre moving up so high. He's a solid TTler, isn't he?

Crucial time gained by Gastauer. Pity to drop below Izagirre in GC, but that looks like enough gained to secure a Top 10 position, which is a great performance.

16TT stats of advantage should make passing Gautier probable Wink

Letting Izagirre in the break gain so much time was pretty unwise, as was not putting Kadri in a single break all race. Still, Gautier ought to top 15 now and this race bodes pretty well for the less Mountainous Ardennes. Here's hoping at least.

I guess top 5 is all that is left now for Gesink.

Mighty, mighty disappointing. Sicard and Schreurs are getting beaten with like several minutes per stage... come on. What are they doing?!
