Very aggressive team and you should always be able to make some sort of result Smile

@matt: I'll go down fighting. Pfft

@knockout: I certainly hope so. Seeing how effective those guys can be in EPIC, I'm just following protocol here. Wink

@aidan: Aw Embarassed Seeing as how you are an active user on Strava yourself it's all the nicer, thanks Smile But I certainly don't think we'll be in the top spot, I'll be content if we get some wins though.

@sgdanny: I like the wording aggressive, I hope the guys do as they are told and get in some breakaways. Now and then. Always.

Fifth update from the transfer ring, another three riders were successfully signed. With these moves we have secured riders 13, 14 & 15. We won't be exceeding 18 riders most likely, but we'll see where we end up exactly. From getting top quality riders or domestiques or maybe some stagiares, anything is possible really.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/Zwischenablage05_zpssehdjwxo.jpg

Special focus is this time on Africa. With Van Wyk (Namibia) and Belmokhtar (Algeria) we got two boys from the dark continent and add the tally up to three with earlier signing Christiaan Kriek.

Abdelkader Belmokhtar, 27

For ours and Zilberstein's sake we hope he is not related to the terrorist of similiar name please. Abdelkader is a top puncheur but with some serious lack in secondary stats. In this sense, he'll be great for pacing in the hilly classics in the last kilometers. But we hope that he'll also go for his own chances occassionally and will reward himself then.

Key Stats: HL 75, MT 72, END 72

Ermin Van Wyk, 28

Namibia's truest flandriennes, coming from a MTB background. Van Wyk is excellent at pacing in the flats and has great talent for the pavé. Mayber this is due to the streets in Namibia, but his talents will certainly come in handy when the team wants to increase and lead for Langeveld and De Backer. He'll be our very own Vandenbergh light. We are sure this can be a good thing?

Key Stats: FL 76, CBS 74, END 72

Sebastien Einsle, 28

The Luxembourgian rider didn't get a contract extension this year form Vesuvio, and when we saw that he was on the market, we had to bid for him. With his talents lying in the climbing and descending of hills, he'll be a welcome breakaway specialist. But also his versatility will be a useful skills when it comes to helping his teammates in some races such as the pavéd classics. Secretly we hope he can return to his winning ways of late 2012, where he took a stage win in FBD Eire Tour.

Key Stats: HL 74, DH 75, FGT 73

Strava is proud to announce its last signings. We must admit, we ended up with a completely different squad than we had imagined initially when starting up, but our global focus soon came as a strength as through strong scouting and networking, our manager could secure some excellent riders. In the last days of the transfer period we are now happy to announce three more signings who couldn't be much different from its status.

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/MGStrava/hq/Zwischenablage06_zpsff6xx2k4.jpg

Claudio Corioni, 33

Maybe our fourth captain for the team, maybe even our first? Claudio Corioni joins from former PCT Team Venchi and looks for a second spring in the Continental Tour. He may not be the youngster anymore and his speed as declined a bit, but we feel he's still good enough for at least one, maybe two years on this level to score vital points for the team. Additionally he can be a superb helper in the cobbled races and can lead in a race such as Gent-Wevelgem. We really wanted to get a sprinter as some of you may have noticed and we did several bids to try and lure sprinters here. With Dupont, Canola and Favilli we have riders capable of leading out but we had no top-tier sprinter that would have made a lead-out useful. Now in the signing of Corioni, we have just gotten that to a nice wage. Unfortunately similiar to Favilli, Corioni is trained for long stage races with his immense recovery and we won't be going to a Grand Tour anytime soon with him. However there are some solid stage races on CT level too, maybe we can find a place for him there.

Key Stats: SP 79, ACC 75, REC 78

Mirko Trosino, 23

Joining us later in the year as a stagiare, Trosino has a talent for the fight against the clock. With a mentor like Tennant at the team, he may get some usefulls skills along the way. We don't expect too much of him yet at this young age, but Trosino certainly has much room to grow still.

Key Stats: TT 69, PRL 69, RES 68

Gregor Muhlberger, 21

Loaned in from fellow CT team Sauber Petronas, Gregor Muhlberger will be a nice domestique with just the right edge of fighting in him to help the team in its premier season. Oddly we initially made an offer to him but shortly before the contract was signed, Sauber made a far surprior offer to him, so it's very understandable he signed with them. Still you always see yourself twice in life and we are happy to welcome our manager's fellow Austrian now at the team, even if it's just for a year. Here he will look to gain much experience and advance as a rider.

Key Stats: FGH 71, HL 67, ACC 68

i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Sh0nak/MGStrava/hq/strava_teamroster2015_zpslkwoxhqs.jpg

So this it, really, really it? Indeed. Now may be a good moment to present the overall squad for the first time. When looking at most other CT teams, we feel two things: We had a bit of a different focous. And we may get a real bad beating in the mountains.

Nonetheless, we think we did a solid job but there's still lots of room to improve in coming transfer seasons. Like we said, our complete lack of real climbers will certainly hurt sooner rather than later and since Strava is famous for their "King of the Mountain"-leaderboard raids, it may be a bit ironic we have not a single climber in the team. Publicity-wise, our sponsor & fanbase will want some mountain goats or at least one or two more puncheurs in the coming season but for now, we try to avoid any (mountain) stage races anyway. The concentrated focus and neglegence of climbers helped us in the race planning and transfer season; hopefully it won't hurt us too much in the rankings.

We are pleased with the overall depth though and look forward to most races. The goal is to finish somewhere mid-table in the rankings and get some wins for our leaders this season. In our opinion, this is far from promotion material at this point but we'll see how the racing goes. We also love breakaways, so maybe our guys will hopefully - we beg of them - do something there as well.

Join us later when we update our HQ to reveal our goals and the faces behind the names.

Damn, Langeveld. And here I was hoping for more cobble points this year Sad
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Really like your team. Might not be the strongest in CT but should get some nice success.
Tennant obviously a huge rider for you. But also Favilli and Canola are great additions, so is Corioni.
Canola was a rider I really wanted actually. But in the end I got Bazzana then.

Yeah, well I was also hoping the guys who were in higher levels would stay in higher levels, but that's the game! Pfft

The Rider
Straight away it doesn't look like a squad that will blow other teams away, in the rankings. However, come to think of it Corioni - Langeveld - Favili and Tennant could all be fantastic and right up there in the top 30 of the rankings, why not?

Definitely don't rule out promotion here. Wink

A very nice team Smile
I have no doubt it'll be interesting to follow, whether they get great, mediocre or no results Grin

I still love that cobbled squad. I think it may even be stronger as if you put all the strongest CT cobblers of last season together into one squad!

That + Favili + Tennant is a massive team core. Great team!

Goals 2015

Benelux ChallengeTop 5
Herald Sun TourTop 10
GP HerningTop 5
Tour of IcelandWin
CT Team StandingsTop 10

Benelux Challenge, Top 5

With a focus on hills, the Benelux Challenge is ideally prepped for Elia Favilli, however the Time Trial and the cobbled stage also come in handy for Tennant or Langeveld. With all firepower in this race, we aim for much.

Herald Sun Tour, Top 10

Normally not a focus race for us but the Time Trial suits Andrew Tennant and the large portion of flat stages makes it possible that he stays within the Top 10 due to a superb Time Trialing.

GP Herning, Top 5

Our cobblez-squas has massive muscles and looks to show them in GP Herning. If they don't I'll be surely surprised... Langeveld and De Backer as our leaders have the power for the flat and the talent for the pavé, Van Wyk, Dupont, Corioni, Tulik and Selvaggi form an exceptional powerhouse for the cobblez.

Tour of Iceland, Win

Same as approch as in Australia, british TT National Champion Tennant loves the discpline of fighting against the clock and Iceland's TT will be key to winning this stage race.

CT Team Standings, Top 10

Though with Langeveld and Tennant our goals fall fairly into the hands of two riders, the whole team will have to perform if we are set to fulfill our Top 10 goals in the UCI CT classification. Especially a constant string of results by Favilli and some stage wins by Corioni can be key in completing this goal.

Join us next when we reveal our full schedule of the season.

Tennant's jersey

Having the british national Time Trial champion on our squad, Castelli and aidanvn13 provided us with a special jersey for him.

Drumroll please...

i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh579/aidanvn13/stv_gbr_zpscdpf7u2o.png

As you can see, the union jack is in all its glory on the jersey and Tennant can really showcase his nationality here. This is different to other versions where you only get to see the stripes. The orange tone made way for black, whilst the shorts were designed with some blue tone on the bottom.

We guaraantee you: Now that Tennant is riding in such a jersey, he'll be at least 1 kph faster than he normally would. Minimum!

Much thanks and appreciation to Aidan for the help and this beautiful jersey!

Nice jersey and it's gonna be great watching Rolland and Tennant battle for the GC in stage races with Time Trial as the main factor. By this you should be able to get a lot of good results and Tennant might end being your top scorer. So good seeing a nice jersey and I hope my Durasek won't encouter that jersey too much Grin

Most of our boys havn't done any racing yet (notably Cooper is currently active in the Bay Cycling Classics - or at least that's what we believe, we havn't really seen him do anything), but there's still some news on the team front. Whilst we are still to lazy to update the racing calendar, we'll give the information that Strava was listed two times on the 8th spot of the predicted final season standings.

At the end of the day, we'd take that but let's take it slow. We'd be close to a promotion spot if it comes true, however a little bit higher (or lower) will be alright too in our debut season. Catch up on the respective previews of Luis Leon Sanchez & The Rider, worth the read.

Strava's very first race is behind us and we are certainly satisfied with it. Claudio Corioni managed to score a solid 2nd place at the Great Ocean Road Classic. He was only beaten by B-World Champion Richeze from Sancor.

pcmdaily.com/images/mg/2015/Races/CT/GreatOceanRoad/mg2015_GreatOcean_PCM0077.jpg

The team managed to keep within the peloton throughout the race. Splits throughout the race has kept some sprinters behind, but Corioni was attentive enough alongside his teammates to keep himself up. In the final kilometers, the peloton has managed to reel in the breakaway, with Sulzberger still coming 3rd, being beaten to the line.

With the great start down under, Strava hopes for even better results in the upcoming races such as Benelux Challenge.
