I don't have any experience with the stage editor, but if you can choose between stuff like finish_flat, finish_mountain_1, finish_mountain_2 etc., it's for the classification files. It it finishes on a flat section, set it to finish_flat. You don't want a stage that ends on a flat to give mountain points (which it might do if you set it to finish_hill / mountain1).

Do you know if fields and forests take quite some RAM or it's mainly cities? Sometimes I'm quite over cautious in placing fields/forests because I don't know if it could make the game crash, while it would be much easier to just create a big square of them without much fear.

I normally try not to add too big forests and fields. But my experience shows that cities ans big seas are far worse. Cities often can be fixed by lowering the 2 city texture options in the game options by 2 points or so. Since then no 3d crashes for me with max settings everywhere else but anti aliasing.
Seas can sometimes be more annoying as they sometimes lead to short laggs every few seconds. Especially when editing the sea again for some reason.

I don't know if this is available on the release version but you can try CTRL+I on the editor to get some infos on the stage and on the top-left corner you will have the memory consumption of the stage, which would be more or less the same in game (depending on the graphic settings ofc)
To be safe, I would recommend you not to go over the 1.2Gb in memory in the editor (and that will already be painful long to load in game)
Does anyone know if there's such a function in the editor or if there's any other way to see RAM consumption. I've tried Ctrl+I but it didn't work, also browsed through the menus but couldn't find anything like it.

I made a stage which crashes when I try to load it in the stage viewer, and when I try to load it in the game as well. Any help appreciated!

If it crashes when loading in the stage viewer, something must have gone wrong with the exporting part of it, so try re-exporting the stage.

Well, could also be possible that there is something wrong with the .zcts file. If that's the case, then you'd probably need to re-create the stage (although you'd probably be able to use the roads/water already existing by saving the .xml file and creating the new stage based on it).

I'm having problems adding my stage to my database in pcm2013, I used to just do it with the standard database editor that comes with the game, but they removed the stage section there. I found the pcm guide to adding your stage, but it doesn't seem te work for me on pcm2013.

I have two questions:
1. How I know the mileage for the stage that i'm doing?
2. How I put various types of asphalt in the stage? Change, eg: old asphalt to new asphalt or normal asphalt to cobblestones?
