Café Pedro 9: Nein, nein, nein!

I'm the same as matt; not a huge amount of space left on my laptop's hard drive so I literally needed to delete/uninstall PCM 2012 to make space for 13. Also, think this is my first post in the cafe, what's the menu like?

Sexist jokes juice - 1euro
Troll cake - 3euros
Politically correct cappucino - 5euros

Ban ham with Admir's eggs - priceless

I guess it's too early to nominate "Spamalot" as the name for the tenth cafe?

By the way, I've patented that name so get your hands off it.

There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

Anyways, I'm happy I'm blessed with a 400GB+ pc, so no need for doing that stuff, PCM 12 and PCM 13 are still on it, though I don't really use them anymore.

I've got 1TB and I currently have 3gb of space left Sad

Woah, you're doing something wrong then.

Or do you store a lot of other(non-gaming) stuff on it as well? I mean, as in, 500 GB of it? Pfft

1TB on my laptop, plust 2 500GB external drives... about 200GB free space in total Pfft Take pretty much it all up with TV & Films (20+ various complete TV shows and pushing 450-500+ films Wink). I keep the older PCM installed for a couple of months until the Daily DB comes out, then remove anything related to the old PCM game. I have currently got both 13 & 14 installed for reporting stuff but as soon as i can 13 will be removed.
I also take a lot of space up with other games. For example i added another 3-4GB in Race 07 mods today alone, and i'm adding another 4-5GB tomorrow of mods for other games. It all adds up to a lot of space somehow Pfft

I've got a couple games on Steam. I think I have the past 3 FM's and also those logo/facepacks take loads of space. Then I've got lots music, some movies and tv stuff. Not really sure how I have so little space tho.

nvm, 1.19gb of space Sad

I have a 500 gb drive, and it has 120 gbs left. Had it 3 years.

I also have a 2 TB external, that's where I put my video footage and screenshots etc. However, I've been wondering, is there a way I can put games on the external and run them through it. I'm wondering cause eventually I will run out of space on ym main drive and I'm pretty sure you can't put programs on the external and run it from there.

And Valv, that's a little much for those things. You might want to do a cleanup. maybe there's some files of things that didn't uninstall correctly, etc.

So, in an attempt to bring the Cafe back, is anyone interested at all in Photography? I managed to win the school competition earlier this year and got an offer to put my work in a gallery, so I was hoping if anyone could offer advice Smile

Well, I'm not 100% sure, but IIRC, if you install an Operating System on the external drive and then the games you'll able to run them by using your external drive as default boot device. It isn't hard to do as it seems, you just need to know how to use the BIOS

There's a brilliant little program named steam mover that you should get. I've used it so I can have steam installed on 1 hard drive and all my games installed on another. It works by moving the files and producing a redirect from where they were to where you've moved them.

By doing this it would effectively allow you to keep just the launchers from the games on your hard drive as you could use this program to trick your computer into thinking it's all on the hard drive when it's on an external drive. ( Assuming the external drive is plugged in when you go to use the program)

Actually thinking about if you could probably move the whole thing across (pick something small in size to test with first) as it offers you the option to easily move it back if it doesn't work.

Yes. We probably are all to some degree considering PCM screenshots are basically photography. I actually wanted to get into it, but I dont think I'd be that good at it, compared to people I see on my instagram.

1) Get a camera
2) Take a picture
3) ???
4) Profit!!!!

But seriously, taking good pictures is surprisingly simple. Get hold of a decent camera (note high megapixel does NOT mean good, you want a decent lens more than anything), then just go and take pictures of whatever. Sunsets/Sunrises always make good pictures as do landscapes in general. Always a solid place to star because they tend not to move Pfft Animals are always tempting but they move and this creates issues of bluring or low quality zoom so takes a bit of practice and luck. Same for sporting events and people in general. Just go an take lots and lots of pictures and you soon find what works and what doesn't

Nah nobody in the community likes sunset/sunrise photos. We were told 'If you take a picture of the sunrise or sunset you will never win. Ever.' Anyway, I know basically what to do - as I said I've won stuff. Anyway, thanks for the advice Smile

Once I get to my phone I'll post a bit of of my work.

Steam now allows you to choose where you wish to install games, including on different drives to team itself

I am just on my phone, but i can answer to this. Of course you can run your games on your external drive. I also got a 500 gb hdd and a 2 tb external, and i installed all my steam games(around 800 gb) on my external drive and i run them from there...but if you want to make a video(fraps, msi afterburner, etc.) you need to save the video on your hdd, if you are making a video of one of your games of the external drive.(otherwise there will be a bottleneck, because your drive can not write and read such big data at the same time.)

EDIT: my phone is so slow, that i got zabeld twice..
