Cyclo-Cross: A New Dawn | END
Smowz
Really enjoying the worlds build up. Even sneaked in a Cookie post in there. Thanks everybody for the fun posts.

To me, Vague is technical superior to Matt though, because Francis' skill has been numerous times mentioned by Ian but that's just semantics..

Pff Shonak, how can someone falling 3 times in the same race be better technically than Matt Cool Pfft

Well jandal that was a greatly enjoyable piece of writing!
Also I want Smowzy as my private English teacher Pfft Bloody hell that's hilariously advanced English there lol.

Great news that the cross won't be reported until Sunday. Yesterday I tried to write a blog post but I had a serious writer's block so couldn't jot down more than 2 sentences without stopping. Will retry today or tomorrow Wink

Since I'm home - oh about - 5 hours and a half later than was planned, I'll keep the Scope review for tomorrow Pfft
Is not so bad, since we got some nice Game Thread posts anyway today Grin

Thanks for the feedback guys, really enjoyed making it and getting into my journalist persona again - It's my unbiased (tried really hard, failed a bit last year) opinion with a few changes, most notably a bit of bias towards Cook as a British journalist. Yeah Shonak Vague has a lot of skill but I really rate Mazzarelli as well, we will soon see who triumphs Grin

I tried to make some from experience but can't think of many otu fo NZ for which two races (Pfft) should be enough and I love love love LLS' Whakapapa course. So here is places I have been/lived/stayed. Plus somewhere I haven't.

Newton Challenge
Spoiler
Place (nation, city): Newton, Powys, Wales

Technical information: [enter a number between 1 - 5, with 1 being very low / nothing and 5 being very high
Technicality: 4 (Tight corners and some tricky sections which could get muddy quickly
Sand: 0
Uphill: 2/3
Length of 1 lap: 3.6km
Cobbled sections: 0
Final sprint (length of the final straight road): 300m downhill, think Steve Cummings stage at TDF

Other information: We go up and down a few times here on a half road, half grass course but there is many flat sections before the final steep hill and descent to the finish. The hill is sealed road but some may run it except for the final lap. There will be some mild river crossings and ponds in the winter, some of which will be unavoidable. It's a half urban, half countryside course, with a hilly grassy first half and a mainly flat, road second half.

CumbriaCross
Spoiler
Place (nation, city):

Technical information: [enter a number between 1 - 5, with 1 being very low / nothing and 5 being very high
Technicality: 3
Sand: 0
Uphill: 4
Length of 1 lap: Short
Cobbled sections: None but some difficult gravel, sometimes rocky terrain
Final sprint (length of the final straight road): 40m, some winding sharp inclines before a steep kick to the finish.

Other information: Taking place outside the town of *awcrapiforgotstartswithm* near Penrith, the CumbriaCross had been taken place for many years as an amateur race and once even being part of the Superprestige for a good 17 years before the UCI decreed it too rocky for competition and there was no maintenance crew to save the position. Record holder is Hugh Vanautreve and Raphael Visconti, both achieved 4 victories. Now a crew is there to help get it back where it belongs. Still very rocky and some hard kicks and bridges to negotiate but mostly it's undulating gravel and rocky terrain along narrow country roads.

Roubaix (somebody had to)
Spoiler
Place (nation, city): Roubaix, France

Technical information: [enter a number between 1 - 5, with 1 being very low / nothing and 5 being very high
Technicality: 3
Sand: 0
Uphill: 2
Length of 1 lap: very long
Cobbled sections: 1 long one, with increased difficulty, muhahaha Plus another mans made one is considered
Final sprint (length of the final straight road): Velodrome (it was coming :coolSmile

Other information: Yes, it was coming. As part of the controversial UCI scheme to emulate some famous road races for their own gain the riders will complete from the last cobbled section of the Hell of the North. Some more cobbles are being considered. Far not for many shortcuts are planned to get to almost the velodrome before looping back to the start and some man made bridges to get some hills. The velodrome, obviously, will only be used on the last lap.

Will look back for my Dublin Cross as well, it could work and Gormley needs one, poor guy.

EDIT: Hmmm, deleted Dublin amongst others (Windhoek and TVCC I used google earth and everything Sad) so will try again another time. Definitely redo Dublin and Windhoek, maybe TVCC.

We do already have the Arenberg Classic though which is if the Trourée d'Arenberg(can't spell) used in Paris-Roubaix, nice routes though. Smile

Looks like I need to make some races again, that's always fun. Grin A bit early this year though. Pfft

It is quite early for creating new crosses.
I won't stop you but I don't even know how many current crosses will disappear from the calendar and I won't go over 40 races per season so it's quite possible only 1 or 2 new races will be added Smile

Ian Butler
Additionally, I'm always open for crticism so if you want, you can give me some feedback on this season/what races worked and didn't work for you.
Let me know below or through pm, always appreciate feedback Wink

That's why i provided possible changes to current races, and for Cape Town even planned how it would fit in. Really, i am just the best race creator #modest

Last WC preview!, this time from The Scope.

Race is tomorrow. Send in tactics asap if you want to send them Smile

Interesting, interesting. The reporter must be some forgiving flandriennes to place Milan that high Shock but hopefully it's really just Ian and he knows something we don't. Almost wanted Milan to be one star so he could win because Lipawsky was one star, muhahaha.

If Lipawsky can win in a sprint with one star, with two stars Milan can win with 20 seconds, no?

Not even in a long shot Pfft

Well Listerijn has 3 victories this season so he is an underdog here. Wink

A sprint will do then Pfft

Be warned of the unthinkable happens to me in 7 hours you better be nice to young Milan or I will be rl and Internet depressed Sad But no need to do the same for trek, no need at all Pfft

Amazing preview btw, can't wait to see Milan in action, may sneak in a little start-line interview if I'm not depressed and have time off from celebrating. So very unlikely Pfft

Shonak where the heck do you find the motivation to write 4 consecutive beautiful pieces *insert Shonak's heart smiley*. In 20 minutes I hardly write 2/3 of what you said in Raphael's post!

Thanks for that actually, now I have more than something to write about! Smile

Oh and thanks Ian for that preview as well!

Thanks for making my day Grin

@Ian: Thanks for the scope preview, I thought Sylvain would be a number favourite, but this looks the same as last year, so hopefully he actually is being underrated. Pfft

I'll try to make a post from Pierre and Kloet before the race as well. Smile

@jandal: I think I've got a higher chance of losing internet, given I'm using this prepaid 3G internet thing. Pfft

Think you just did as you say that over an hour after you lose Shock

EDIT: There's my double Listerijn build up, trying to emulate Lipawksy in every way Pfft Amazing Shonak, how do you find the patience and skill to do that? Great hearing from the home tifosi favorite Mazzarelli as well, so excited!

Wait, what do you mean about the pre edit bit? Pfft

Really going all-out on the copy Sylvain techniques. Pfft

Thought you meant higher chance of losing internet than winning rugby, which was true, apparently. I thought you posted it before or mid-match but it didn't come through with dodgy internet until after you had already lost the game.
