Stealing a Lead-out
By: Wiley | Average Rating: 3.75 | Game version: PCM11
When the peloton hits 20km make sure your sprinter is in the first 15-20 riders.
Launch a 99effort attack with a rider of 70-74FL. Hold the rider at 90-99 dot effort for as long a spossible. This will raise the pace of the peloton dramaticallly. Using up early lead-out riders (shortening the effective length of a lead-out). The sprinters teams will not form lead-outs, and keep their riders on relay.
When caught, hope your sprinter is within 1-2 riders of your rivals lead-out man (HTC = Renshaw, Garmin = Hushovd etc.). As they form a lead-out, put your sprinter on to follow of the lead-out man. If this works you will now be on the lead-out wheel, and ahead of the main sprinter.
The team will now lead your sprinter out. Delay your sprint as long as possible, to avoid the rival sprinter going over the top of you before the line.
I used this ti full effect in the TDU with Vacansoleil. Bozic stole Renshaws wheel after an attack by Marcato. Cavendish formed up behind Bozic. Renshaw lead out to 1.2km to go. Bozic launched and Cav's did not have enough time to come passed Bozic.
I have also used this with Feire, Kittel and Swift all to multiple sucesses.
