why do you need leg warmers in a velodrome? to keep your legs from getting chewed up?

I'm not sure, it wasn't (too) cold, might be incase they fall as you said.

Its a lot colder riding in a velodrome then sitting in one :S and ive noticed alot with pros/neopros that they always seem to overdress as if contact with air might cause them to fall ill :lol:
