It's that time of year: Testers for PCM.daily DB
Several great databases have been released so far, and hopefully, the next PCM.daily DB will soon join them. However, for the DB to be 'great', it needs to go through a serious testing process. We've added several new features and tried to implent some new ideas, and these do of course require testing.
Therefore, we're now looking for a bunch of testers. We expect to release 1 or 2 beta versions of the DB, and both of them will be very close to final - so don't worry, it will definitely be worth playing.
Track League - Round 1 Review, Scores and Next time.
UPDATE: Please check the full article (at the bottom for week 2 scores)
Thank you to all who turned up tonight for the games, and more importantly the DB help, we noticed a few things to iron out.
6 players turned up (full review click read more), SportingNonsense came away with the top points on the night, he was a consistant performer.
I'm going to sort out the DB and will schedule round 1.5 for next Saturday (12th September) for 21:00CET once again. To sign up, just visit the Round 1 thread and say that you will be joining in, to get an idea of the numbers.
Update, 3rd of September, 11:16: The PCM09 files are now placed on the website server, pcmdaily.com. Any feedback, especially on speed, is welcomed.
As many of you have noticed, the site has been down from c. 5-6 in the morning until about now. Several unfortunate coincidences made the downtime much longer than it should (and could) have been, and we're of course sorry about this.
And since this news article is so short, why not present an improvement of the site? Downloads are currently placed on a different server than the one which the site itself is on. The Download Server is quite slow, and if you're not using a download accelerator, downloading larger files can take an extremely long time.
However, due to recent upgrades on the website server, we'll now be able to combine these two, meaning that all the downloads will be moved to this much faster server. The moving of files from one server to another takes a lot of time, though, but we'll let you know when the change takes effect. Until then, all files are of course available on the old server.
UPDATE: Due to poor planning on my part, i forgot i'm not actually here tomorrow, so i'm delaying it by 1 week. The new event is Saturday 5th September 2009 at 21:00 CET
After 2 months of planning, signing up and more, it's here, Round 1 of the Track League will take place on Saturday 29th August at21:00 CET
The updated DB should be avalible a few days before the event itself, all you need to do is be there. To confirm your taking part please just send me a PM with "I'm in!" or something in it. The Round has a forum topic HERE.
Inspired by a suggestion from Jape, I've coded a new BBCode for the forum. The BBCode allows you to make tables - very neat for posting results, rankings and such.
The BBCode doesn't vary much from other BBCodes, but I'd like to introduce you to the few features included. First of all, you will have to select a width for your table. The width is typed in percents. You have 4 options when clicking on the table-button: 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%.
Next thing to consider is the separator character you will use to separate the table fields. You won't actually have to consider it, as it is pretty easy to determine: There are two options; a | (vertical line) or a tab-space (I can't show you that one :P). If you're typing the table manually, the vertical line is the way to go, as it is on your keyboard. If you have the table in an Excel file, you will be pleased by the tab-space separator. It enables you to simply copy/paste tables from Excel, without doing anything else than mark the pasted text and click the table button.
