Plakker and his crew has now released the PPDB Giant 2007 for Pro Cycling Manager 2006. It includes 177 teams (counting the national teams too), 2830 riders, 479 different races with total of 1240 stages and much, much more. The PPDB-team, who recently won our award as "DB Team of the Year", and who won the "DB of the Year"-award, is generally known for making high-quality databases, and this one will probably also go over in the PCM-history as a success.
For once, our forum was very active during the night. Luckily, I had a good night of sleep - I had received my "final" key earlier that day :P Anyway, the release has resulted in a lot of questions, so let's clear up some things:
1. There's no database editor available. Cyanide will not release one soon, but they will probably release one some day. Until then, we have to hope for other people to make something which we can use.
2. No real name DB is available yet. The ones made until now don't work, and Cyanide's "official" one has not been released yet. It will soon, though, but some problems with it have to be fixed first.
3. If you haven't received a license key yet, don't complain about it here. We don't have anything to do with it, and we don't have a solution ;) Try emailing Metaboli, the ones who are "in charge" of the DL-version.
4. Impish has made it possible to play other languages than the ones included in the game. Danish and German are now downloadable from our DL-section. Replace your original Local.cdb file with the one included in the package, choose "English", and you should now be playing in the language you have downloaded.
Today, the game got off to a good start at its release date in France. A lot of happy French customers have bought the game and started posting their screenshots. On one day, a French thread with screenshots has reached 23 pages with submissions. Unfortunately, a few people have also reported problems with the .exe-file, but since no posts have been submitted to the official technical forum I guess it isn't that bad.
The release has also been followed up with the first correction downloads. First of all, there's the Ultrabase Real Name DB 1.0. It an untested real name DB for PCM, so it's still unsure if it really works. Yesterday, 6 jersey packs were released by the official jersey design team. PCM.daily have downloaded all the jerseys and collected them into one pack with all the other packs - the Corrected Jerseys Pack V1. It's essential for a even better experience :) Last, but definitely not least, there's DaniS' Initial Mod V1. It contains all the jerseys, all the right teams and names, photos for all the riders, correct secondary sponsors and lots more - basically all you need.
Still waiting to get your PCM? Well, as said, the French guys have released a lot of screenshots for your pleasure. You can see them by clicking here. And if that's not enough you can help me by reading for my classical studies exam ;)
As I warned you about earlier, we would move our domain to a new provider. That has now happened succesfully, and all of you should now be able to visit the site again :) In the upcoming days we will work on improving the site. We will move most of our files from the old server to the new server, meaning that you will get much better speeds than before. The server-move has also resulted in the come-back of "Random Screenshot", our very popular feature. All in all, we are now prepared better than ever for the future.
