For quite some time, we've been looking for new crew members to raise the quality of our article section. And personally, I think we've found the best possible solution. In the future, this site's forum top poster and winner of PCM.daily's "Most Helpful Member"-award, Addy291, will write article for us. His main focus will be Pro Cycling Manager, and with his knowledge about editors we'll probably see some guides and tutorials very soon.
PCM is one part of the site - cycling is another. For that reason, we have hired the American freelance writer of Daily Peloton, Andrew Kappes, also known as Wildcat000. His main focus will, of course, be cycling, and we expect a lot from him.
Cyanide has in all silence released a new patch which is called 1.0.2.1. As the name indicates, it's only a small update, and according to the list of corrections, there's only one: "1.0.2.1 version * Correction to a StarForce bug which prevented the game being launched, in a few rare cases."
This also means that you can install the patch and still continue your save game and use databases for the previous patch (1.0.2.0). The patch will be downloaded automatically if you open up your game. It will be uploaded here as soon as possible.
Update: The DL-version of the patch is now available - download it! Update 2: And the CD-version is now also available right here!
There was absolutely nothing to report last week which is the reason why there was no weekly news update. Now we're back with news from the past two weeks ;)
"This file contains invalid data" Several people have reported that the files they download from our file section "contain invalid data". I've managed to regenerate the problem several times, and it seems to be a problem with our host. But since the support is full of pretty incompetent people, they can't fix it -- however, I've managed to avoid the problem by using a download manager. Personally, I use FlashGet. It's free and doesn't contain any spyware or anything else which many other download accelerators / managers do. FlashGet can be downloaded from its website, http://www.flashget.com/en/download.htm
New databases Two weeks have passed, and a few new databases have been released. The most downloaded of them is the PCMGeeks DB which is based on Tour de France. The package includes both a DB with the dopers and one without. You also get the Manager Photo-package, 3 new teams (Team Designa Køkken, Glud og Marstrand Horsens and Team Odense Energi) and more. The team behind the DB is now working with PCMScandinavia on making a 2nd version of the database, including even more stuff.
The two other databases are the Ultrabase and the Stanoscase-db. The Ultrabase-db is available in our download section, but since the link for the Stanoscase-db has been down all day I won't be able to upload it until later today / tomorrow.
Miya's stuff - now in one package DvT has collected many of our Japanese friend Miya's creations in one package. The first package wasn't entirely compatible with PCM07, though, and was later removed from this site. Therefore, if you downloaded the file here before the 3rd of September you will need to redownload it. DvT has released a new package which is fully compatible. It includes the famous Champs Elysses, the TdF podium and the helicopter (in two versions).
Article Writers - apply now! Currently, we feel that our crew is large enough compared to the amount of members we have. We do miss one kind of crew members, though: article writers. In the upcoming time we will put more focus on article writing, but it won't be succesful unless we get some article writers. So, if you're interested in writing guides for PCM, articles about PCM, articles about cycling or, well, in general writing, send me a PM, explaining what you're good at and why we should choose you.
Apply - now! ;)

As you can see we didn't have much for you this time either, but there's simply not much to report at the moment. Also, I have been quite busy with my start at the university. It will probably calm down soon, but at the moment I'm pretty busy. Oh, and don't forget my birthday tomorrow :P
The fourth, and possibly final version of PPDB 2007 has been released. The pack contains all versions for the PPDB 2007 and is the first pack that can easily handle several seasons.
Click read more to see the full release details and the link to the PPDB forums, where you can download it.
It's been a pretty silent week, We still have a few "news" to bring to you, though :)
More new backgrounds Want to give your PCM-game a more TdF-winner-like feel? Well, what about our new background with pictures from Tour de France of Alberto Contador? Oh, so you wanted Alejandro Valverde to win? Well, that's not a problem either. And if you don't like any of those two superstars, what about the young starlet, Linus Gerdemann, and a bunch of pictures from his TdF-victory?
Still not interested? Have a look in our Backgrounds section - you might find your favourite rider there ;)
PCM Spain's DB getting closer to deadline As Dankan says in his blog here at PCM.daily today, the PCM Spain 2007 DB is getting closer to the release. Dankan will go on holiday in about two weeks time, meaning that he has to work a lot now on finishing the 2nd and probably last beta version of the DB. While he's gone, the beta testers will test the pack before it's released to the public.
Also, if you want to see anything from the DB, you can request it in the comments section of his blog today. You can also see the requested screenshots in the Screenshots section.
Ruben goes PCM07 Known for his RNDB 2000 for PCM06, Ruben is now working on a project for PCM07 - the RDB 2002. The first version will include the best 60 teams of 2002 with realistic team goals, budgets, rider stats, national champions, world champions, etc.. You will also find some of the young, upcoming stars (who will be free agents) and profiles for some races.
In the V2-version, Ruben hopes to have versions of the 2002 editions of the 3 grand tours along with a new ranking system and iinvitation system, similar to the ones from 2002.
New Graphics Tutorials We have made a new article category which will contains different kind of graphics tutorials. Why didn't we just put them in the PCM07 category you might ask? Well, making jerseys for PCM06 and PCM07 is the completely same process, therefore there's no reason to only place the tutorials in one of the two PCM-categories. Instead, we made a new one and placed two tutorials there, both written by SportingNonsence. How to make a simple shirt How to make a mini-shirt
PPDB makes a 1980 DB for PCM06 After having finished the PPDB V3 2007 PPDB has for once not had much work to do. They have decided NOT to make databases for PCM07, and instead they will be using their time on making a PPDB 1980 Giant for PCM06. The first teams have already been made, but there's a lot of work to be done. A completely new calendar, completely new teams, riders, shirts, races, etc. will need to be done, so don't expect it to be released any time soon.
And don't worry, PPDB will also make a 2008 DB for PCM06.
Continental Game still searching for managers Going into the 2nd season, our Management Game has been very succesful. As mentioned in the news by SportingNonsence yesterday, the game has been extended with Continental Teams, and currently there's only two available teams left: Team Discovery Marco Polo, and the Japanese team, Nippo. So if you want to participate, don't hesitate with signing up. You can read much more about the game here.
Correction In last week, I said that Aab-ern has been hired for the site crew. However, it seems like I have expressed myself in a sense which makes some people believe that he'll be a new "me", the new main adminstrator of the site. That's not the case. Aab-ern will support me in the tasks I have which is updating the download section and posting the Weekly News. I'll still be doing both things, but Aab-ern will assist me in that. So, to make one thing clear: I'll still be on the site - now and also after I start at the university on Wednesday. It won't change much, except that I will probably use less time here compared to now.
