First of all, I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year! :) I doubt that I'll be online at any point tomorrow, so I better say it now - lets hope 2008 will bring a lot of great things (for example, a bugless PCM? :D (and no, Cyanide did not promise that to me)). Anyway, to the point. Some may remember that we, as the first PCM-site, introduced Database Reviews. We'd like to continue that project, but this, of course, requires some people who have actually tried a lot of different databases. Earlier on, we had Panaflex who basically tried a new database every week - he's gone now and is enjoying the sun in Colombia. Therefore, we're searching for a guy like him - someone who loves to try out new databases and review them ;)
If you're interested, write me a Private Message :)
Well many people know about this now so I may aswell reveal details in full - this was discovered by Aab-ern yesterday.
When you download the Graphic viewer file which was released a couple of days ago, it contains many files and folders. Go to UserHome and then AppData and there is a Local.cdb file.
You can open that file inb Hannes Converter 2.0 and in it, are details which shows that Track Cycling looks set to be added into PCM08!
STA_Gamemode gives the first clue, as listed below Career, Race, Stage, Season, Classic and Tutorial is Track.
If you look into STA_Race and scroll down, you will see three races below Japan Cup, called Vitesse, Keirin and Elimination Race. These are track events, Vitesse is basically the Sprint, Keirin is Keirin (Well duh!) and Elimination Race sounds like a sudden death type of event, there isnt actually a track event that is like it, but it sounds interesting.
If you look in DYN_Team, you can see that there will be Seperate track teams as if you scroll down to the bottom and look in the CONSTANT column you will see: 'TRACK_TEAM01', 'TRACK_TEAM02', 'TRACK_TEAM03' etc etc
There are track references in a variety of tables, for example, in SYS_game_action, at the bottom are 'ConnectTrack', 'StartTrack', 'TrackChooseCyclist' and 'TrackCyclistsOk'. In STA_Stagetype 'TRACK' 'TRACK_SPRINT' 'TRACK_KEIRIN' and 'TRACK_ELIMINATION' are all listed, below the three game types that are normally there.
Sadly, the track races are currently only in Paris, as in STA_Race, Paris 1, Paris 3 and Paris 4 are the track races. Since there is no Paris 2 there, this does suggest that there will be more track events added during the development period.
If you close the DB, and look for graphics, you'll find some interesting stuff too:
First thing in PCM-Viewer\Gui\ingame, is 6 "bars". It's thoose where you see your riders energy, effort level(%'s), tiredness and punch.
barreEffortTrack00.tga: A bar, connected to barreEffortTrack01.tga, shows the riders effort. barreEffortTrack01.tga: A bar, connected to barreEffortTrack00.tga, shows the riders effort. barreEnergyTrack00.tga: A bar, which is showing the riders energy. Connected to barreEnergyTrack01.tga and barreEnergyTrack02.tga barreEnergyTrack01.tga: A bar, which is showing the riders energy. Connected to barreEnergyTrack00.tga and barreEnergyTrack02.tga barreEnergyTrack02.tga: A bar, which is showing the riders energy. Connected to barreEnergyTrack00.tga and barreEnergyTrack01.tga barreSpeedTrack.tga: A bar, showing the riders speed.
And the second is some kind of logo or image:
LogoTrackMax.tga: Some kind of logo, showing "MAX" og and a red arrow. I can't guess for what.
Something unrelated but quite funny, in DYN_Team, if you look midway up in the CONSTANT column you will see 'LOOSER_TEAM' and two columns to the right of that is 'cyanide.com'
I have found some really interesting PCM08 stuff, which probably is the bird whispering in CrueTrues ear. I've done it without any help by CT though! :-) But some things needs to be cleared out, so you've got to wait until tomorrow afternoon for the news. :-D
Who had expected this? Cyanide has already reveiled the very first information about Pro Cycling Manager 2008, the next "part" of our beloved cycling game. In Cyanide's announcement we're told that they have rebuilt the rider structure from scratch, and this means that all jerseys and other stuff for the cyclists are no longer compatible. The changes are as follows: - A more realistic and consistent mesh for the rider. - No more deformation on the rider texture. - The bike texture is large enough to allow us to faithfully reproduce the real model. - Different 3D meshes for frames, wheels and helmets
Luckily for us, there will probably be a lot of jerseys available on the day of release? Why? Because Cyanide has decided to release a template and a Rider Viewer which you can use to see your creations. You can download the viewer by clicking here (temporary link). So, from Cyanide to you - that's your Christmas present. Cick "Read More" to read the full announcement.
(Besides, I've heard a bird whisper that there are more news to come soon -- and I can promise you that those news are very interesting, especially for some nationalities ;))
