TDF v PCM - Stage 2
SN's Tour de FranceStage 3 - Dunkirk to Gent
Marcel Sieberg, Ruben Perez and Cedric Herve were today's breakaway. They were caught with 3km to go. A mass crash took out or stopped most of the field, and Steegmens beat teammate Boonen to win.
1 Gert Steegmans (Bel) Quickstep - Innergetic 3.48.22 (44.2 km/h)
2 Tom Boonen (Bel) Quickstep - Innergetic
3 Filippo Pozzato (Ita) Liquigas
4 Robert Hunter (RSA) Barloworld
5 Romain Feillu (Fra) Agritubel
6 Robbie McEwen (Aus) Predictor - Lotto
7 Erik Zabel (Ger) Team Milram
8 Heinrich Haussler (Ger) Gerolsteiner
9 Oscar Freire Gomez (Spa) Rabobank
10 Sébastien Chavanel (Fra) Française des Jeux
SNDeluxe
2 real pieces of realism today: Cedric Herve attacked at one point (but was soon caught) and there was a mass crash near the finish, including Mayo and Kloden. Mayo was forced to abandon, along with frenchman Freddy Bichot. Yet again Cavendish (81 Sp) was working for Eisel (78 Sp) and I have no idea why.
Anyway, the sprint was a 2 horse race between 2 men in blue. Neither where Boonen or Steegmens.

GCT
Ruben Perez was today's realism as he made the break. The down side for him was that he spent the day stuck inbetween the peleton and the 13 man break. They were caught and in the sprint many big names were too far back, leaving another win for Mr. Zabel. A win at the first intermediate sprint leaves Hushovd 4 seconds off Yellow.

Real Name
As in SNDeluxe, Cedric Herve was today's realism, making it into the break. De Jongh gave Boonen a perfect lead out for the sprint and unlike Steegmens, he pulled away allowing Boonen to win. In the picture below, you are able to see Steegmens celebrating.

Top stuff, although 2 getting the same guy is relaistic to each other, just not to real lifeGrin

Cavendish was working for Eisel in an attempt to negate your unrealistic stat change Pfft (cheeky, aren't I??)
#3 | Addy291 on 11. July 2007 18:46
very cheeky issoisso, but i'll tolerate it (not sure Sporting willPfft) as Cav hasn't shown anything yet this Tour, mainly down to bad luck though

but you can see from his earlier results that he can be a top sprinter, as long as it wasn't a fluke (surley not 4 flukes against top competitors, though)

actually, I don't rate him nearly that high. I think he will be a fabulous sprinter. the key word here being "will".

then again...at the same age, Graeme Brown had even more impressive results...and now look at him...

so...give him time Wink

I suppose it's only natural though....a bit like all the danes claiming Rasmussen is as good or better a climber than Sastre or whoever Smile

I'd agree - he's a decent sprinter now, so think what he'll be like in 3, 4 or 5 years Grin

It was more of a why does Cyanide make the weaker sprinter the leader comment than a British why wont Cav win comment. Wink
