Weekly News #141
Weekly News

Before i begin i have to point out the truly fascinating Cyclist Interview with Vassili Davidenko, GM of Novo Nordisk. Well worth a read! Right now onto the News:

Focus Steam Sale

This weekend Focus are giving discounts of upto 75% off their entire catalog on Steam! This includes PCM2014 cut by 50% to £14.99, PCM2013 cut by 75% to £3.74 and PCM2012 cut by 75% to £1.74. These deals run through to Monday 13th so it's a good time to catch up on the series if you've been holding off.

Man-Game Madness

Yet again the Man-Game has been providing a sizable proportion of the sites content this week. I'll begin by drawing attention to SN's call for reporters. The recent pace has been amazing but it can't last forever, and more reporters makes the whole things easier for everyone. And with PCM2013 on sale now is a perfect time to lend a hand. If you are interested drop a comment in this thread.

Anyway, to the Giro! The seasons first Grand Tour came to a conclusion in Bergamo where Damiano Cunego added his 6th title, an amazing record! Lotto-Australia Post's rider also took home the Points Jersey. 2nd place overall went to Aleksandr Pluchkin of Team B&O just 54" back. 3rd place comfortably ended with Angel Madrazo of Santander. Rothaus-Aegon's Jose Angel Gomez Marchante claimed an easy KoM Jersey, whilst Joseph Dombrowski of Pendleton's took the Youth competiton and provided the base for that teams Team Classification victory. Huge thank you to SportingNonsense for quick and incredible reports.

Away from the top tier there's still be action. The PCT headed to Japan where Mirco Saggiorato took a shock win for Sauber Petronas Racing. The true sprinters classic Berlin ProRace wasn't one for the sprinters as George Bennett of Oz Cycling Project attacked late to spoil the party. Currently the best climbers are split between Sibiu Tour and Cartago-Irazu.

The CT division had two cobbled classics, the Criterium Hainleite and Lincoln GP. The first won by Michal Golas of Grupo Nutresa, and the second won by Aleksei Saramotins of Evonik-Signal Iduna. Currently the top sprinters are engaged at the Circulo de Juarez in Mexico.

Story Games Summary

Philippe Gilbert, of Prorace Cycling Team, won the ICL's first Velo d'Or. Gilbert had won the Worlds, as well as PT events like MSR and Strade Bianche. Tour de France winner Nairo Quintana was second, and Giro d'Italia winner Alberto Contador took thrid. The game is now truly into its off-season and is hunting for a few more teams to fill out the game. If you are interested you can sign up here!

EPIC still rumbles along, with the Vuelta entering it's final 4 stages, however unless someone launches a big attack the GC result is looking set. More action can be found at the Tour d'Pologne or in the CT races which continue to provide interest and excitement.

Thread of the Week

I was tempted to give it to I'm With Stupid again, having just finished the opening set of 5 Rounds (won by Bikex), but i couldn't do that. The Man-Game Giro d'Italia discussion thread was also considered but also rejected. No instead my Thread of the Week is Other Races 2014. With plenty of late season action there is plenty of late season discussion to be had!
