The Beginning
The first season for Team Type 1 consisted of a remarkable 88 races. Lack of consistency in getting great results plagued the team throughout the season. However, there was one man that showed up time and time again: Alexander Serebryakov. The Russian went on to win 13 stages and 5 races overall including the Russian RR National Championship! The main man Sutton didn’t do too bad either with 4 stage wins.
Gary Sutton taking his first professional victory; Stage 3 of the Istrian Spring Trophy Race.
Serebryakov’s great season allowed him to win the Individual Rankings for the Continental Tour and helped Team Type 1 promote from a Continental team to a Pro Continental team going into the 2013 season (found on Page 107).
The Present
The team - after changing its sponsor to Novo Nordisk - is still known to struggle with consistency at times, but the results are getting better and better. With riders such as Tejay Van Garderen and Ben Swift on the team sheet, successes are by far more and more common in the team.
Serebryakov, an established member of the team and showing off his Russian NC jersey, with one of his many victories.
However - and some say this is classic Novo Nordisk - after a great victory in Classic Loire Atlantique, the team once again disappointed in Cholet - Pays De Loire. It’s a story of just as many ups as there are downs.
The Future
Team Novo Nordisk has grown a lot since its beginning. Even after 145 pages, there is still a long ways to go. Slow and steady wins the race, and sutty68 is well aware of that. The team needs to focus on details now to grow even stronger. Consistency being the major factor. We all hope to see Team Novo Nordisk at the top one day, winning one race after another. But until that day comes, we have to take the tougher days with a sense of hope for the future.
