The Beginning
Karl Hammarling starts his journey in a rather unique way with his own team “plotting” against him, or at least it seems that way from his perspective. Things start to look up as Karl gets a new team and new direction helpng him to achieve great things by the end of Act 2. He surpringly retains his UK RR National Champions and at the same time watches his girlfriend, Lucy, take the women’s UK RR Championship as well.
The NC triumph leads to the engagement of the happy couple.
Unexpectedly, everything goes downhill from this point on. This spotlight can’t even beginning to describe the gloomy yet beautifully written Act 3 Finale. Trust me, you have to read it to believe it. The most I feel comfortable summarizing is a careful selection of pictures by TMM shows Karl’s full range of emotions in the darkest hour of his life.
The acts that follow bring us through Karl’s recovery process. In other words, to use a phrase I like to think I coined, his comeback.
The Present
Karl Hammarling is a living British legend. With a victory in the Ronde van Vlaanderen and in Paris - Roubaix, he’s the first Brit ever to accomplish that feat. De Ronde was won in a sprint against Stybar, Van Keirsbulck and Vanmarcke while Roubaix was decided in a daring solo.
Karl's prize for his mantle.
After the double, Karl made sure his fan club got a member boost, which shows that Karl is much more than riding a bike alone.
The Future
There is no doubt that Karl Hammarling’s future looked promising. This is a man that could have created a palmares for himself that anyone would have been proud of. However, we won’t be there to see it. TheManxMissile has decided to pull the plug on this experimental story, stating he lacks the time to write the story the way he wants it. So, this is our wave goodbye to the Swedish born Brit named Karl Hammarling, a sound name on PCM.Daily!
