PCM.daily's 2014 DB just days away from release
We know we have been a little too quiet regarding the next PCM.daily release this time around - logic being that we'd rather not say anything than say something that we'd perhaps have to retract later on. But now I'm glad to finally announce something: We have pretty much finished the 1st version of PCM.daily's 2014 DB! It went into final testing Friday evening and would have been released this weekend had it not been for a short holiday getaway on my (CT) part. What to expect? Well, the basics first: 88 teams (of which 52 have 2014 graphics), all with updated rosters, palmares of 2013 for all PT and PCT races, 15 races have 2014 profiles (including the Giro and the Worlds, but unfortunately not the Tour as it hasn't been made yet), and some new and shiny equipment. Given the release date, it's relatively light on 2014 stuff, to be honest, but fear not: This is not the last release, and we will keep on adding new jerseys, stages, equipment etc. to the DB whenever anything is published. Plenty of work has been made on the database itself, though. Especially worth mentioning is the fact that we (I should say Jesleyh) have been going through a lot of Continental riders and Free Agents and given them a much-needed stats update. We've also cleaned up the Free Agents in general, removing some of the retired riders that had been overlooked previously, while also adding lots of new talents and high-profile riders of teams that are not currently in the DB. More teams may be included as last minute additions - we've prepared for it by adding the riders of the teams we're considering. The 2014 DB will be released as an update to the PCM.daily Expansion Pack, so if don't already have it, now would be a good time to download it.
Curtains officially down for 2013 ManGame season
After 13 months and 169 races, the season ended earlier today with the last couple of classics - Giro di Lombardia and Japan Cup. As briefly mentioned in last week's news, it was a fight all the way to the end for some teams - so the results caused both delight and disappointment among the managers.
Division winning teams Wikipedia, Tinkoff and Gazelle will certainly be among those celebrating tonight, but they can't go too far - many riders still have the national championships to come in the next few days!
Applications for 2014 have opened!
The season ending also means another big thing happening - something I know many of you have been eagerly awaiting for a long time. Time to start putting together an application explaining why you want to become a manager next year, in case you haven't already prepared one.
Look over here for information and questions. Other than that, good luck! |
