Weekly News #92
Weekly News

With a new (and rather surprising) new world champion in the shape of a certain mr. Costa, it's also time for a new edition of Weekly News. The usual writer, Pellizotti2, is taking a break this week, so you will have to do with me this time around.

Recap: The probably last patch is ready
A long wait came to an end when Cyanide released the fourth and probably last patch for Pro Cycling Manager 2013 earlier this week, fixing numerous rather severe bugs. Your game should automatically ask you to get the update, but if not, you can download it right here.

PCM.daily DB to be released soon
Soon after the release of the patch, the questions started looming over when the long-awaited PCM.daily Database would hit the download section. That's fair enough considering that the team behind - including yours truly - have constantly been stating that we'd release the DB once Cyanide fixed the career bugs.

The situation is the same as it's been ever since the release of the Real Name DB: We're working on the project every day, and we want to get it out there just as much as you want to download it ;-) In next week, we will focus on the finishing touches - and yes, the goal is to release it sometime over the next seven days. We will also start publishing the list of teams, features etc. early which might make the wait a little more interesting.

USA gets a little bit of love from Cyanide
American? And getting a little tired of the same 21 stages of the console game, Tour de France for PS3 and XBOX? Well, in that case you're probably playing GTA or FIFA by now... but soon there's a reason to find the TdF disc again.

The stage race Criterium International that was released as DLC in Europe back in July is finally making its way to the American version of the PSN Store - on October 10th, to be exact. Better late than never, as some would say...

New tips and tricks to explore
For the creative types out there, there's a good reason to check out the tips and tricks section.

In this video tutorial, mede33 explains how to make a mini shirt in the default style that you know from PCM12 and PCM13, while

The Hobbit has a little something for both the stage makers and the database makers. In this tutorial, how to create a circuit race in the stage editor is described, while the process of adding a rider to a database can be learned here.

Don't forget that you can add your own tips and tricks right here.

New Cyanide project hits Kickstarter
It's a new world when it comes to funding of various projects. With crowd-funding sites like Kickstarter, you don't necessarily have to depend on rich partners to make your ideas reality - instead, fans can unite and tip a small amount of money each to make things happen.

This new reality has also hit Cyanide who are looking to axe the publishers. Instead, it's hoping that you can make its most recent project, Pro Rugby Manager 2014, become reality.

Cyanide is aiming to raise 100.000 £ in just one month - a bit optimistic, perhaps, but the first couple of thousands has already been pledged.

By donating, you can get various benefits. For example, you will receive a digital copy of the game, a thank you-note and your name in the credits for just 10 £.

Interested? The Kickstarter page is right here.

So many mixed msgs a few days afterpatch it was NOW its in the next 7 days. I give up.
#2 | Selwink on 29. September 2013 20:22
They have never given a date for the release. It was all speculating, mostly by people who weren't on the team.

Nice write-up once again, hope this will keep on going
#3 | Jesleyh on 29. September 2013 20:39
Atlanta, come on man, show respect, the guys are literally spending hours a day on it and do all of it for free. Also, it's not like they are with 20 guys. If you want it faster then you should have offered to help Pfft
I'm sure It's worth the wait. Wink

Looking forward to the feature list, I really do...
#4 | CrueTrue on 29. September 2013 20:48
Atlanta: Frankly, I don't mind whiners giving up on us Wink Besides, I'm 100 % sure we haven't given any release dates until now.

First week without a Man-Game section, i like it Smile

Blah blah Daily DB blah yay etc.

mede33's is a great tutorial, well worth a look. Really should do my full on video tutorial for stages...

Cyandie should Kickstarter PCM, we would pledge a lot of money they could really benefit from Pfft

Also, when will the September Story of the Month Nominations come out?
#6 | baseballlover312 on 29. September 2013 21:00
What they really need is a kickstarter for more budget to actually make PCM a decent game.
#7 | CrueTrue on 29. September 2013 21:03
Manx: I know that Mresuperstar has everything set up in terms of nominations, so I guess it's just a matter of a few days.
#8 | Mresuperstar on 29. September 2013 21:09
Story of the month nominations will always be revealed on the 1st of the following month. Then winners announced in the following weekly news. Wink

#11 | 547984 on 29. September 2013 23:09
Nice piece of writing CT, as there are 5 sections instead of 3! Wink

Cyanide trying to raise 100,000, the thought of that makes me want to explode.
#12 | baseballlover312 on 29. September 2013 23:42

A few days after the patch is when we was told but whatever im a whiner sorry it come across that way, cyanide is the real fault or taking ages is their anything i can do to help
#14 | fabio10 on 30. September 2013 02:18
A few days after the patch means...a few days after the patch. Patch has come out wednesday or thursday...if CrueTrue said in these Weekly news that they could release in a week...it means would be released 10 days after the patch... To me is still few days after the patch. They do it for free if you don't know.

@6bball

This is not about budget mate, but about f*cking the loyal customer, because he pays anyway.

I am not buying a thing from them, until they tend to release complete, playable games and get rid of lazy and incompetent people. If somebody wants a copy of PCM13, i can ship it to him for free, i dont need it, i know how to bore myself to death with different things.
#16 | Avin Wargunnson on 30. September 2013 05:48
Anyway thanks for nice pack of news, at least Daily team and especially database team is doing great job, for free and with love. Grin
#17 | The Hobbit on 30. September 2013 07:23
Oh my god I got mentioned, wow...

Great work PCMDaily-Team!

# You're a star right now Wink

On a side note, people that are so surprise and almost don´t know Rui Costa, they must not follow cycling that much. He won Tour of Switzerland for the 2nd year, he won 2 stages of Tour the France, he usually does good in classics that doesn't have coblestones. It could be a small surprise for most people, but not a very big surprise, the stage was perfect for a guy like him!
#21 | atlanta on 30. September 2013 20:59
Yeh to breakaway wins. He still does not have the right to beat Valverde who FU**ed up
#22 | Avin Wargunnson on 01. October 2013 06:11
Right to beat someone? I was not aware that something like that exists in cycling. Cool
#23 | Ian Butler on 01. October 2013 08:27
#22 Yes didn't you know? Gilbert forgot to pay his permission slip so he wasn't allowed to win all season. Pfft
#24 | jph27 on 01. October 2013 10:17
Yeah, it does exist. Vino was one of the poster boys of the system.
#25 | Avin Wargunnson on 01. October 2013 11:44
I wonder if Sagan has some money left, he has to be paying left and right. Pfft
