Who would ever have thought that an edition of Weekly News would be posted as early as a Saturday? ;) Well, after an interesting which is almost over, here's the 24th Weekly News!
"Open Bar" again this year For many of you, "Open Bar" might not be something you have heard about before. Basically, it's an event which is held every year at the Cyanide forum. Here you will have the possibility to "question out" the beta testers and get your questions about the upcoming game (in this case PCM 07) answered. This year it will be held at the exact same date and time as last year: Thursday the 31st of May 2007 from 21:00 until 23:00 GMT +01. Currently, there's no information about it on the Cyanide forums, but that will come later today or tomorrow.
And again, remember that it's held at the Cyanide forum (link) and not here ;) I will of course also be present, ready to answer your questions. If you can't make it we might arrange a sort of "2nd Open Bar" which will be held here. Currently, that's only a thought, though.
We are getting closer to "gold" Not very literally meant, though. The betas of PCM 07 are getting better and better, and today we reached the 5th beta version. Even though there's still a few pages which are not completely done, most of the game seems pretty "final" and ready for gold. There will still be 2 or 3 more beta versions before the gold version, I think.
The translators are also working their butts off at the moment since the last day for sending in the translations is on the 29th of May ;)
New banner - by LAge As you have probably noticed, the Danish graphic artist, LAge, has been kind enough to make us a new, good-looking banner! Personally, I think it looks much better than our old one. I hope you like it too :) Next to the site-banner we might introduce an advertisement banner in order to make money to improve the site. Since we are going to work on how to implent it in the best way, you might experience problems with the site design in the upcoming days.
Basso got 21 months - you voted for 24 The poll has now been closed due to CONI's demand for a 21 month ban for Ivan Basso. It's quite close to what you predicted and hoped for. 46 % of you voted for a 24 month ban. On 2nd place came the demand for a life-time ban. 26 % of you voted for that. Surprisingly, 10 % of you said that he shouldn't be banned at all. Italians, maybe? ;)
I couldn't help thinking that you guys are pretty good at guessing. In our 2nd poll you were asked who you thought would have the greatest breakthrough. The winner was Andy Schleck who goit 32% of the votes. And with his current doing in Giro'd Italia, he has definitely had his breaktrough.
The next poll - the one which has already started - is about whether or not you will buy the game. Start voting! ;)
PPDB to be released in May One of the largest projects in the DB-history is the PPDB-project. They have already released their 2006 DB, and now the 2007 DB should be well under way - actually, it should - according to their website - be released in this month. It will contain around 175 teams, including 8 American teams (Discovery, Health Net, Navigators, Toyota, Slipstream, Jelly Belly, BMC and Colavita) and 2 British teams (Barloworld and Cyclingnews), 2830 cyclists and around 500 races. |
