Demo released!
Downloads

Yes, on this very interesting Tour de France-day, Focus decided to release the official demo for Pro Cycling Manager 2008. You're given the possibility to try out both a mountain stage and a keirin (track) race. In the road race, you're in charge of Euskaltel on the 16th (today's!) stage of Tour de France. You haven't won any stages yet, so the pressure is definitely on you. And as mentioned, if you're unsuccesful, you can always go play some keirin. There's also a tutorial mode, so you can be introduced to the game if you haven't played it - it might be worth it ;) It's available from PCM.daily's download section - right here.

It was about time, Cyanide!! The demo should come before the game, so people easier can find out if they are too buy the game...

Personally i like cyanide to concentrate on making a good game than preparing a demo.

Yeah, maybe that is a good thing. But the demo shall come at about the same time as the game comes.

I must agree with Sykkelfan.

Its not good costumer service to wait so long.

You are both wroooooongWink

It is perfect marketing strategy. Why release a demo before the Tour de France? It is the most covered bike race in the world and when it is on, cycling-hype covers a lot more people than when it isn't on. When it's on, people are more likely to be persuaded to search for a cycling game.

It makes perfect sense from a marketing point of view. I know that may not have made too much sense as explaining isn't my strong point, but I do business studies and am a marketing geniousB)Pfft

Then why not release the game during the Tour de France too?
I reckon it's so they have time to get a patch out before the tour de france

Addy, Surely it is better from a marketing point of view to add the Demo at the start of the Tour de France. If people are interested in a cycling game having watched the Tour de France, they won't all wait until the 16th stage to search for one.

I think Focus knows more about marketing strategies than you guys do, and therefore it must be them who knows when to release the demo at the most beneficial point.

Customer service is a whole other thing. It would have been great for the fans to be able to try out the game before buying it, e.g. to see if the game would run on their computer, but in the end, it all comes down to cash and profit Wink

marketing..maybe. This is ridiculous...buyer should try a demo and decide then to buy that game or not.
No problems to me ..I would buy that game anyway ..but this isnt the way to find new players.

The first two weeks of the Tour de France are the most interesting for the Cycling Manager , in Germany , the first two weeks are Cycling Manager on first (but there aren´t very much other games that are blockbusters) place , the ones who knows the game buys it , the people who would like to play the Tour de France buy it too , only the ones who are waiting on a demo (not much) don´t buy it immediatly

Focus knows more about Marketing then other publishers that would like to have a cycling game do Smile

Cruetrue: I don´t think that Focus is the sharpest knife in the drawer!

But they sure know more about marketing then me.

Maybe I should give my computer a go at the demo. I might be surprised, but I don't really believe it Rolling Eyes
